The Role

Novo's brand needs someone to own it. We're hiring a Senior Designer / Art Director to set the creative vision and direction for the brand and lead our digital creative across marketing: paid, owned, and everything in between.

You'll decide how Novo looks, feels and shows up everywhere a business owner meets us. You'll turn business goals into campaigns that stop the scroll, convert prospects, and make customers proud to bank with us.

This is a senior individual contributor role with real influence. You won't manage a team, but you'll be the creative lead for marketing and the standard-bearer for the brand across the company. You'll work closely with our Director of Integrated Marketing and Senior Copywriter, and with growth, lifecycle and product marketing partners.

What You'll Do

Set the creative vision for the Novo brand

• Own Novo's creative direction and visual identity, and evolve it as the company grows

• Define the brand's look, feel and point of view, and hold the bar across every touchpoint

• Build and maintain a scalable visual system and brand guidelines that keep marketing consistent while still pushing creative boundaries

• Present work to leadership and stakeholders, and argue for creative decisions with clarity and conviction

Lead digital creative across marketing

• Lead creative for campaigns across paid (paid social, display, video, SEM) and owned channels (web, landing pages, email, lifecycle, organic social)

• Concept and deliver high-impact work for brand, growth and product marketing, from brief to final assets

• Design and iterate on landing pages, campaign visuals, ad creative and brand content tied to measurable results

• Create motion and video for ads, product launches and social

• Partner with growth marketing to produce, test and optimize ad creative at scale, balancing craft with velocity

• Use generative AI across the process (ideation, moodboards, variations, production) to move faster without lowering the bar

What Success Looks Like

• In your first 90 days, you've audited Novo's brand across channels and aligned the team on a clear creative direction

• Campaigns ship faster, look unmistakably Novo, and beat their performance benchmarks

• The rest of the company reaches for your brand system and templates by default

Must Have

• 7–9+ years in design focused on brand, marketing or advertising creative, ideally in tech, fintech or a high-growth startup

• Experience setting creative direction for a brand, not just executing it

• A portfolio that shows range: brand campaigns, performance ads, web/landing pages, and motion

• Expert in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro)

• Strong motion design and video editing for social, paid and product storytelling

• A sharp eye for typography, layout, color and composition, and the ability to explain why something works

• Experience partnering with growth and performance teams to produce and iterate on ad creative

• Fluency with generative AI design tools (e.g. Figma AI, Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, ChatGPT/Claude, Fal, etc..) and a clear view of when AI is and isn't the right tool

• Comfort moving fast in a startup while holding a high bar for quality

• Confident communicator who presents ideas well, gives useful feedback, and pushes back thoughtfully

Nice to Have

• Experience leading a brand refresh or rebrand

• Fintech or SMB-focused brand experience

• Art directing photo or video shoots, or working with freelancers and agencies
