Hospital Chief Financial Officer

An independent, community-based hospital in Georgia is in an exciting period of growth and looking for a Chief Financial Officer who understands the unique economics of rural healthcare and wants to play a meaningful role in what comes next.

This organization combines the mission and independence of a community hospital with a level of clinical capability and growth more often associated with larger organizations. Its expanding surgical and specialty programs, advanced clinical services, and continued investment in facilities and technology have created an increasingly sophisticated financial environment and a compelling opportunity for an experienced healthcare finance leader.

This is a true operational CFO seat. Revenue cycle is at the center of the role, but the opportunity extends well beyond traditional financial reporting. The CFO will drive financial performance, guide reimbursement strategy, finance continued expansion, develop clinical leaders, and serve as a trusted partner to an experienced CEO and community-based board.

What You’ll Lead

• Own the full financial strategy and performance of a growing Critical Access Hospital
• Provide hands-on leadership across revenue cycle, including patient access, case management, HIM, and patient financial services
• Drive key revenue cycle metrics including collections, DNFB, point-of-service collections, and cash performance
• Oversee Medicare cost reporting and ensure operational decisions are evaluated through the lens of CAH reimbursement
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, compliance, cash management, and long-term financial planning
• Guide financing and financial strategy for significant capital and clinical expansion projects
• Partner with clinical leaders to strengthen budgeting, labor management, and financial decision-making
• Build trusted relationships with executive leadership, the governing board, finance committee, and community stakeholders

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

• Join an independent hospital that is growing rather than simply maintaining the status quo
• Take on meaningful CFO work spanning revenue cycle, reimbursement strategy, capital investment, financing, and organizational growth
• Work alongside a CEO who has a background as a CFO and understands the realities of the role
• Inherit a strong accounting foundation with an experienced CPA Controller and dedicated revenue cycle leadership
• Help shape major clinical and facility investments as the organization continues to expand
• Work directly with a community-focused board in an environment where leadership can make decisions without layers of large-system bureaucracy
• Relocation assistance available for candidates interested in becoming part of the surrounding community

What You Bring

• Meaningful finance leadership experience within a Critical Access Hospital is strongly preferred; substantial rural hospital experience will also be considered
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of hospital revenue cycle operations
• Working command of Critical Access Hospital cost-based reimbursement
• Strong accounting, financial analysis, cash management, and strategic planning capabilities
• Experience partnering with operational and clinical leaders, not simply reporting financial results
• Ability to communicate effectively with boards, executives, clinicians, and community stakeholders
• A grounded, collaborative leadership style and desire to become part of the community

Additional Experience That Will Set You Apart

• Current or previous hospital CFO experience
• Capital expansion, debt financing, or USDA Rural Development financing experience
• Swing bed program or surgical service line experience
• Fundraising or foundation exposure
• MBA, MHA, or other relevant advanced degree

A Location Worth Relocating For

Located in a charming, historic community within easy reach of Athens and Atlanta, this opportunity offers something increasingly hard to find: genuine small-town quality of life without feeling disconnected from two of Georgia’s most dynamic cities.

The surrounding area is known for its beautiful historic architecture, inviting downtown atmosphere, local restaurants and shops, outdoor recreation, and strong sense of community. It offers a slower pace and the character of small-town Georgia while remaining approximately an hour from Atlanta and about 40 minutes from Athens.

For someone looking to put down roots, it’s a setting where the CFO can become part of the community they serve, while still having convenient access to Atlanta, Athens, and the broader region.

Benefits

• Comprehensive medical and dental benefits
• Employer-paid life insurance
• Retirement program
• Paid time off
• Tuition reimbursement
• Relocation assistance available

For the right healthcare finance leader, this is an opportunity to combine the mission of rural healthcare with the complexity, growth, and strategic influence of a much larger CFO seat.
