Senior Counsel

Senior Counsel — Broad Scope, Real Influence

Austin, TX (In-Office)    Full-Time    Salaried, Exempt    Reports to CEO

Most in-house counsel roles keep you in a corner reviewing contracts. This one puts you in the room with the CEO, shaping how a fast-growing energy company actually operates.

Freedom Power was born when Freedom Solar and Freedom HVAC joined forces to become Texas's complete whole-house energy company. We don't just install equipment. We hand homeowners the keys to something bigger: control over their energy, their bills, and their future. We call it Energy Empowerment, and it's not a tagline — it's the reason we show up every day.

As Senior Counsel, you'll own the company's legal affairs end-to-end advising the Executive, Sales, Marketing, Residential, and Commercial teams, negotiating the agreements that drive our revenue, and managing the disputes and risks that come with scaling fast. This role touches every part of the business, which means your fingerprints will be on everything from the contracts we sign to the strategy we execute. If you want real ownership and a direct line to leadership, not a narrow lane in a big legal department, this is that role.

Your Day-to-Day

• Serve as a trusted advisor on all legal matters for internal stakeholders.
• Manage the departmental budget.
• Provide forward-looking, pragmatic legal guidance to our Executive, Sales, Marketing, Residential, and Commercial teams to keep their activities and transactions compliant.
• Drive revenue by leading the drafting, review, and negotiation of agreements — installation agreements and terms and conditions for solar, HVAC, and generator sales; construction agreements for Commercial & Industrial; material procurement contracts for Supply Chain; and marketing, consulting, and service agreements.
• Manage escalated customer disputes and litigation matters, including cancellations, liens, collections, and related matters.
• Oversee the company's vendor onboarding process, including negotiating vendor agreements and managing the relationship with our third-party onboarding partner.
• Partner efficiently with outside legal counsel to support the company's growth and interests.
• Support the Executive team on key strategic projects, high-profile issues, and our mission and values.
• Develop and enforce legal guidelines and in-house policies that uphold our legal and ethical standards.
• Assist with corporate secretarial tasks, including entity management and company policy documentation.
• Lead the adoption of legal technology to manage our legal portfolio and drive operational efficiency.
