Position Purpose:

Under the direction of a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician, Sonographer performs sonographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail; performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative, using ultrasound for diagnosis.

Required Qualifications:

• High school graduation of equivalent.  

• Satisfactory completion of an ultrasound program or similar training to meet qualifications for registration. 

• Required to have RDMS credentials and updated BLS.

What the Diagnostic perinatology Sonographer will do:

• Performs sonographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail; performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative, using ultrasound for diagnosis.

• Complete exams of abdominal, pelvic, transvaginal

• Targeted fetal anatomy surveys. Highly detailed head-to-toe evaluation of fetal brain, spine, cardiac and limbs to evaluate for congenital anomalies, genetic markers and structural birth defects.

• Doppler imaging to measure blood velocities in maternal and fetal vessels to assess placental function and oxygenation. Serial fetal growth and cervical assessment.
