Hunting Department:

• Knowledge, experience, and passion for various hunting pursuits (upland, waterfowl, big game, small game, etc).
• Familiarity with sporting firearms.
• Experience in archery preferred.
• Ability to multitask and /or change tasks frequently. 
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Fishing Department:

• Knowledge, experience, and passion for fishing (both fly and spin).
• Understanding of fishing tackle and techniques.
• Familiarity with Maine fresh and saltwater gamefish species.
• Experience in paddlesports or boating.
• Ability to stand entire shift. 
• Ability to multitask and /or change tasks frequently. 
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Camping Department

• Deliver exceptional customer service by actively engaging customers, identifying their outdoor recreation needs, and recommending appropriate camping and hiking products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked salesfloor through replenishment, recovery, merchandising, and attention to visual presentation standards.
• Develop product knowledge across camping, backpacking, hydration, outdoor cooking, shelters, sleep systems, and related outdoor gear to confidently assist customers.
• Work collaboratively with teammates to achieve sales, service, and operational goals while creating a welcoming and inclusive shopping experience for all customers.

Position Purpose: 

As a temporary, part-time Sales Guide, you'll be the heartbeat of our Hunting or Fishing departments, delivering world-class service with a smile. You'll be the face of the L.L.Bean brand, engaging customers, keeping our store in tip-top shape, and fostering a spirit of teamwork. Your role will be ever-changing and exciting, adapting to the needs of the day while showcasing your product knowledge and service expertise. Key Responsibilities: 

• Engage Customers: Approach and assist multiple customers, providing personal and genuine service interactions. 

• Drive Sales: Convert every customer interaction into a sales opportunity, driving brand loyalty through exceptional service. 

• Build Relationships: Establish connections with customers, share expertise, and demonstrate a passion for learning and sharing product knowledge. 

• Advocate for Customers: Listen actively to understand customer needs and solve problems efficiently at the first point of contact. 

• Leverage Technology: Use Point Of Sale, and mobile devices to provide seamless, fast omni-channel service. 

• Promote Initiatives: Drive excitement around L.L.Bean sponsored programs, including Outdoor Discovery Program and the L.L.Bean Mastercard program. 

• Maintain Standards: Ensure a well-organized store, uphold visual and merchandising standards, and support store operations processes. 

• Collaborate: Work as part of a team to achieve results, create a positive work environment, and adapt to changing business needs.

• Health and Safety: Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies and procedures. 

Physical Demands: 

• Required to stand, walk during shift; talk or hear, both in person and by headset; Occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps  

• Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 20 pounds may  

• Occasionally move and lift objects up to 40 pounds (utilizing a team lift as needed)

• Expert knowledge of Hunting or Fishing activities
• Passion for providing world-class customer service. 
• Friendly and outgoing communication style. 
• Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to learn new technologies. 
• Adaptability and openness to change. 
• Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
• Genuine passion for the outdoors and participation in outdoor activities.
