Director Portfolio Management - Utilities

As Director Portfolio Management - Utilities at Honeywell Technologies, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the portfolio strategy for Honeywell Technologies' Utilities business. You will drive profitable growth by aligning capabilities across Honeywell with the evolving needs of electric utilities and their customers, with a particular focus on opportunities that connect utility priorities with Building Automation solutions for data centers, commercial and institutional facilities, campuses, and other energy-intensive environments. 

In this role, you will develop and execute portfolio strategies that optimize growth, profitability, market share, and customer value. You will partner closely with Building Automation leaders and vertical teams, as well as offering management, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, finance, regional commercial teams, and other Honeywell businesses, to identify market opportunities, package differentiated solutions, prioritize investments, develop roadmaps, and bring integrated offerings to market. 

You will also partner with senior leaders to advance the "One Honeywell" approach by creating enterprise-level messaging, value propositions, and go-to-market plans for priority utility customers and Building Automation verticals. You will help connect utility-side opportunities with customer needs behind the meter, including grid-interactive buildings, energy resilience, electrification, demand flexibility, and portfolio-level operational performance. 

You will report directly to the General Manager – Utilities and work out of our Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC, location on a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities 

• *  Develop and execute the Utilities portfolio strategy, including portfolio expansion, new product introductions, lifecycle management, partnerships, and investment prioritization to drive growth, profitability, and market leadership. 
• *  Partner closely with Building Automation and its vertical teams to identify customer needs, market opportunities, portfolio gaps, and strategic priorities across data centers, commercial buildings, healthcare, education, airports, hospitality, campuses, and other energy-intensive environments. 
• *  Package capabilities from Utilities, Building Automation, and other Honeywell businesses into differentiated solutions and define the supporting value propositions, pricing approaches, commercial models, solution roadmaps, and go-to-market plans. 
• *  Monitor portfolio performance, including revenue, margin, market share, pipeline, customer adoption, recurring revenue, and solution attach, and implement actions to improve business results and customer outcomes. 
• *  Partner with sales, Building Automation vertical leaders, and other business leaders to support strategic customer engagements and major pursuits, ensuring coordinated positioning of utility-side and behind-the-meter solutions. 
• *  Serve as a Utilities portfolio leader and trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing recommendations on investments, competitive positioning, partnerships, commercialization priorities, and long-term portfolio direction.

You Must Have 

• *  8+ years of experience in portfolio management, offering management, product management, strategy, business management, sales, or program management.
• *  Experience in the utilities industry or a related industrial, infrastructure, energy, software, automation, or technology-driven sector.
• *  Proven track record of driving portfolio growth, market expansion, customer acquisition, and financial performance.
• *  Strong business acumen with experience analyzing revenue, margin, profitability, market share, pipeline, and investment trade-offs.

• *  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Technology, or a related field.
• *  MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field.
• *  Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, translate them into executable plans, and drive results across cross-functional teams.
• *  Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, including experience engaging with senior leaders and customers.
• *  Strong knowledge of utility market trends, customers, regulatory dynamics, and technology needs across electric, gas, and water utilities, including an understanding of how utility priorities connect with Building Automation and behind-the-meter customer needs.
• *  Exposure to Virtual Power Plant (VPP) ecosystem (DERMS, partnerships, trading, etc.).
• *  Experience building or scaling a business, launching new offerings, or expanding into new market segments.
• *  Strong sales, portfolio management, product marketing, and go-to-market acumen, particularly in new or evolving market spaces.
• *  Experience deploying and operating financial, sales, or portfolio management operating systems.
• *  Ability to lead through ambiguity, manage change, simplify complexity, and make fact-based decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• *  Entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated record of exceeding growth and performance objectives.
• *  Executive-level written and verbal communication skills.
• *  Experience working in a global organization with matrixed teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
