CDL Truck Driver II

Pay: Starting at $80,000+/annually, based on experience

HouseSmart Construction is seeking a safety-focused, experienced, and dependable CDL Truck Driver II to support the transportation, delivery, and unloading of manufactured homes to customer home sites. This role goes beyond driving and includes hands-on work supporting home delivery, positioning, site preparation activities, team mentorship, and equipment operation. The CDL Truck Driver II serves as a transportation leader, helping coach and develop team members while ensuring homes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all DOT regulations.

What You'll Do

• Safely operate company-owned toter trucks to transport manufactured homes and oversized loads to customer home sites.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate documentation of vehicle condition, equipment, and deliveries.
• Communicate roadway conditions, route challenges, traffic hazards, and delivery updates to transportation team members.
• Lead the pickup, transportation, delivery, and onsite positioning of manufactured homes at designated customer locations.
• Maintain driver logs and all required transportation records.
• Assist with unloading activities and provide support during home placement and setup.
• Safely transport and deliver manufactured homes using specialized transportation equipment, including house tugs, platypus systems, jades, and other equipment used in home delivery and setup operations.
• Coach, mentor, and provide guidance to Transportation team members by sharing best practices and supporting skill development.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License required.
• Minimum of 3 years of Class A CDL driving experience required.
• Experience transporting manufactured homes, oversized loads, construction materials, or similar specialized hauling preferred.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, training, or leading team members.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, electronic logging devices, transportation safety requirements, and oversized load transportation practices.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and specialty transportation equipment, including house tugs, platypus systems, jades, or similar equipment preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with Transportation team members, escort drivers, customers, and jobsite personnel.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and lead by example in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions.

Company Driving Requirements

Candidates must meet all company driving standards and requirements:

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and safe driving record.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must successfully obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Health Card).
• Must comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and DOT regulations.
• A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, DOT drug screen, and other applicable screenings will be conducted as part of the pre-employment process.
• Applicants are subject to ongoing drug and alcohol testing as required by DOT regulations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work around transportation equipment and manufactured homes for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding work while assisting with deliveries, unloading activities, home placement operations, and site preparation tasks.
• Ability to enter and exit commercial vehicles frequently throughout the workday.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Work Schedule

Work hours can vary based on delivery schedules, job site conditions, travel, and project needs.  Flexibility is important, as some days may finish earlier while others may require additional time to complete the job safely and efficiently.
