About OrganOx
OrganOx is a commercial stage organ technology company dedicated to developing technologies to improve outcomes for patients with acute or chronic organ failure. The company was established as a spin out of the University of Oxford in 2008 and is now part of the Terumo Group. OrganOx is a pioneer in normothermic machine perfusion (NMP). It's flagship platform, the metra®, is available for use in the U.S., Europe, Canada, and Australia. It has been utilized in over 7,000 liver transplants to date to keep donor livers in a metabolically active state outside the body enabling longer preservation times and functional assessment of the organ prior to transplant, leading to an increased number of organs available for transplant. Founded in 1921, Terumo Corporation (TSE:4543) strives to fulfil its mission of “Contributing to Society through Healthcare” by providing a comprehensive range of solutions in the fields of therapeutic procedures, hospital operations, and life sciences in more than 160 countries and regions.
Position Summary
The Senior Digital Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, securing, automating and maintaining the cloud infrastructure and the deployment foundations that support OrganOx’s digital products and connected device services. The role is primarily Digitalfocused, supporting software engineering teams with scalable environments, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, cybersecurity and reliable operational practices for regulated medical device software.
The role will also provide infrastructure and engineering support to the Data domain where shared platforms, cloud services, integration pipelines, Azure resources, SAP interfaces, Databricks environments, or high-throughput device and enterprise data flows require robust engineering input. The successful candidate will act as a practical bridge between Digital and Data, while retaining primary accountability for the Digital infrastructure, DevOps and cloud engineering responsibilities.
This is a hands-on senior role suited to someone who is comfortable working across cloud infrastructure, software delivery, automation, security, operational support, regulated digital product development and selective data-platform engineering.
This is an office based role in Oxford, with flexibility, to ensure stakeholder engagement with Engineering, Quality and other relevant business units.
Listed below are the major responsibilities of the role and a brief description of some of the key tasks to be performed. This list is not totally exhaustive.
Major Responsibilities
Under direction from Digital leadership, and in close collaboration with the Data team, the Senior Digital & Infrastructure DevOps Engineer will be responsible for:
- Design, build, secure, and maintain scalable Azure cloud infrastructure for OrganOx digital products, connected device services, development environments, and production deployments.
- Own and improve core platform capabilities across networking, identity and access management, storage, compute, monitoring, backup, resilience, security, and cost control.
- Implement repeatable infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, automated deployment, testing, release controls, and operational handover practices using appropriate tooling.
- Work closely with software engineering teams and development partners to support development, integration, validation, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing platform support.
- Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, and incident-support practices to improve reliability, performance, supportability, and operational readiness.
- Ensure infrastructure and delivery practices support cybersecurity, data protection, access control, encryption, auditability, and compliance expectations for regulated healthcare software.
- Provide infrastructure and engineering input for shared Digital/Data platforms, including connected device cloud services, Azure resources, Databricks, SAP interfaces, data pipelines, and enterprise data flows where required.
- Mentor less experienced engineers, contribute to technical standards, and maintain appropriate architecture, deployment, runbook, support, and regulated lifecycle documentation.
- Adhere to the letter and spirit of OrganOx’s Code of Conduct and all other company policies
