Graduate Companion Animal Veterinarian
Echuca & Moama Veterinary Clinic | Echuca, Victoria
Rather know everyone you work with than get lost in a huge hospital?
At Echuca & Moama Veterinary Clinic, you'll join a close knit, community focused companion animal practice where people genuinely work together.
The clinic has a loyal, long standing client base and a team that prides itself on being approachable, collaborative and supportive, with a strong focus on providing great veterinary care while maintaining balance outside work.
For a new graduate who wants to build strong companion animal foundations, know the people around them and have experienced vets and nurses there to support them, Echuca is a pretty great place to start.
Why Echuca?
Sometimes smaller is exactly what you want when you're starting your career.
You'll work alongside experienced veterinarians and a capable nursing and reception team, giving you people around you to ask questions, discuss cases with and learn from as your confidence grows.
The team includes experience in small animal surgery and canine rehabilitation, giving you the opportunity to learn alongside vets with established areas of expertise.
Rather than expecting you to know everything on day one, we want to help you build your clinical skills, decision making and confidence at a pace that works for you.
A graduate position where your nurses are part of the team
One of the things we particularly like about the way Echuca works is its approach to nursing support.
Nurses are actively involved in helping the day run smoothly, allowing you to focus more of your attention on your patients and clients. The clinic also places a genuine emphasis on work life balance.
As a new graduate, you'll have the opportunity to build your skills across an interesting and varied companion animal caseload and develop your own clinical interests as your experience grows. An interest in dentistry would be particularly welcomed by the team.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what type of companion animal vet you want to become. That's part of what your graduate year is for.
What you'll receive
- Above award salary
- Relocation assistance
- One-week paid study leave each year
- Veterinary registration paid
- $1,000 towards professional memberships and subscriptions
- Structured graduate development and ongoing CPD
- Employee Assistance Program
- Staff discounts on veterinary products and services
- Retail, travel and gym discounts
- Four weeks annual leave
- Five days paid volunteer leave
Your working week
The full time position is worked as a nine day fortnight, giving you a rostered day off each fortnight.
The clinic shares after hours responsibilities across the veterinary team. The position information provided by the clinic includes at least one weekday on call shift and one on call weekend shift each month.
After hours calls are supported by the Vetriage service, which filters calls before they reach the veterinarian and takes deposits.
For a graduate, the focus is on building your skills with an experienced team around you rather than expecting you to have everything figured out from day one.
Life in Echuca Moama
Then there is everything outside work.
Echuca and Moama sit on the Murray River and offer the ease of regional living while still having great cafes, restaurants, sporting and outdoor activities and the amenities you want close by.
It is the kind of place where you can become part of the community, develop long term relationships with your clients and still have plenty to enjoy when the working day finishes.
If you're looking for somewhere that feels manageable enough to settle into but still has plenty happening around you, Echuca offers a lovely balance.
About you
We're looking for a graduate veterinarian who genuinely wants to build strong foundations in companion animal practice.
You don't need to arrive as an accomplished surgeon or have every consult figured out.
We are much more interested in someone who:
- Enjoys companion animal medicine and surgery
- Wants to learn from experienced vets and nurses
- Values teamwork and collaboration
- Communicates well with clients and colleagues
- Is comfortable asking questions
- Wants to build great relationships with clients and their pets
- Is keen to keep learning and developing their clinical skills
If you are enthusiastic, kind, willing to learn and want to be part of a team where people actually know and support each other, we'd love to hear from you.
Ready to start your veterinary career?
