Graduate Mixed Animal Veterinarian

Casino Veterinary Clinic | Casino, NSW

Want country mixed practice with the Northern Rivers and coast still within reach?

At Casino Veterinary Clinic, you'll have the opportunity to work across companion animals, beef and dairy cattle, horses, small ruminants and the occasional less conventional patient.

This is genuine mixed animal practice, with enough variety to help you build broad veterinary foundations and discover where your interests might take you. The clinic's current services include companion animal consultations and surgery, cattle consultations and pregnancy testing, equine consultations and dentistry, plus care for sheep, pigs, alpacas and goats.

For a new graduate who wants practical experience, country clients and a genuinely varied working week, Casino offers an exciting place to begin a veterinary career.

Why Casino?

One of the biggest advantages of starting your career at Casino is the variety of cases you can experience.

The clinic is an established mixed animal practice with a veterinary team whose interests and experience span cattle, surgery, equine medicine and reproduction, companion animals and less conventional species.

You might spend one part of your day building your companion animal consulting or surgical skills and another working with cattle, horses or small ruminants.

Rather than narrowing your career too early, you'll have the opportunity to build a broad clinical foundation and work out which parts of veterinary practice you enjoy most.

A graduate position where mixed really means mixed

You won't be limited to one species or one type of veterinary work.

Depending on the cases coming through the clinic and where your interests develop, your experience can include:

The current online position information describes the clinic's work as approximately 60% companion animals, 20% cattle, 20% equine, small ruminants, wildlife and other cases.

That is the kind of caseload that gives a graduate plenty of opportunities to develop practical skills, clinical judgement and confidence across species.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what type of vet you want to become. That's part of what your graduate year is for.

What you'll receive

Life in Casino and the Northern Rivers

Casino is a rural town in the Northern Rivers region, known for its connection to the local cattle industry. The current clinic recruitment information describes the town as being on the Richmond River, approximately one hour from beaches and around two hours from the Gold Coast. It also notes access to national parks, rainforest and the regional airport at Ballina.

That gives you the connected feel of a country community while keeping the wider Northern Rivers lifestyle within reach.

You can build relationships with local clients and producers, become part of the community and still spend your days off exploring beaches, rainforest and surrounding coastal towns.

About you

We're looking for a graduate veterinarian who is excited by genuine mixed animal practice and keen to learn.

You don't need to arrive as a confident cattle vet, equine vet and small animal surgeon all at once.

We are much more interested in someone who:

If you're enthusiastic, practical and prepared to get involved, we'll help you build the rest.

Ready to start your veterinary career?

If you went to vet school because you wanted variety, this is the kind of clinic where you can put that into practice.

Build your companion animal skills. Work with cattle and horses. See the small ruminants and unusual cases that make mixed practice interesting. Learn from an established local team while becoming part of Apiam's wider veterinary community.

And when the working week finishes, have the Northern Rivers, rainforest and coast waiting for you.

Come to Casino and discover where a genuinely mixed veterinary career can take you.

We'd love to hear from you. Apply with your cover letter and resume via the portal or contact Corinne at corinne.warnick@apiam.com.au or 0458 387 478 to discuss the role.
