Role Description 

We are seeking an Associate IS Engineer to support the delivery, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications and digital solutions. 

This is a blended application engineering role combining IT application support, application lifecycle management, technical troubleshooting, integration support, and software development. The successful candidate will work across both run/support activities and change/development initiatives, helping ensure applications remain reliable, secure, compliant, and fit for business needs. 

Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the Associate IS Engineer will investigate and resolve application and integration issues, support application releases and upgrades, participate in incident and problem management, maintain application documentation and configurations, and work with business, infrastructure, platform, security, and vendor teams. 

The role will also contribute to full-stack development and application enhancements, including front-end development, API integration, back-end development, testing, and deployment where required. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

• Provide day-to-day technical and operational support for enterprise applications and associated integrations which could be either of these SaaS, COTS and Custom-built application 

• Monitor application health, availability, interfaces, scheduled jobs, and other operational components, and proactively identify potential issues. 

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents, defects, integration failures, data issues, and performance problems. 

• Perform technical root-cause analysis and support implementation of corrective and preventive measures for recurring problems. 

• Support incident, problem, request, and change-management processes in accordance with established IT service-management practices. 

• Work with business users, application owners, infrastructure teams, security teams, integration teams, and external vendors to resolve technical issues. 

• Support application configuration, upgrades, patches, releases, environment changes, and production deployments. 

• Support application integrations with enterprise platforms, databases, APIs, identity and access-management solutions, and cloud services. 

• Maintain application documentation including architecture and interface details, configuration information, operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and support knowledge articles. 

• Contribute to application lifecycle activities including technical assessments, upgrades, modernization, remediation, and application retirement where applicable. 

• Participate in periodic operational, security, compliance, and application health activities as required. 

Software Development & Enhancement 

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of application enhancements and software solutions. 

• Manage the application SDLC and supporting ITIL Lifecyle completely  

• Translate business and technical requirements into maintainable and user-friendly application functionality. 

• Develop or enhance front-end applications using technologies such as React, Vite, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. 

• Build reusable, responsive, accessible user-interface components following enterprise design standards. 

• Integrate applications with RESTful APIs, enterprise services, databases, and third-party platforms. 

• Contribute to back-end development using Python and FastAPI, or comparable technologies, under the guidance of senior engineers. 

• Participate in technical design discussions, peer code reviews, troubleshooting sessions, and technical walkthroughs. 

• Follow coding standards, secure-development practices, reusable software-design patterns, and established engineering practices. 

• Develop and maintain appropriate unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end automated tests. 

• Support CI/CD processes for automated builds, testing, security scanning, and deployment. 

• Analyse and remediate application vulnerabilities, software dependency issues, and technical debt in collaboration with senior engineers. 

Testing, Release & Operational Readiness 

• Create and execute functional, integration, regression, smoke, and end-to-end tests for application changes and releases. 

• Support user acceptance testing and resolution of defects identified during testing. 

• Validate APIs and system integrations using tools such as Postman or equivalent. 

• Support release planning, deployment validation, and post-production verification. 

• Ensure appropriate technical and support documentation is available before solutions transition into production. 

• Work with support teams to ensure operational readiness for new applications, enhancements, integrations, and releases. 

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement 

• Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, application owners, developers, QA professionals, DevOps teams, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, and external vendors. 

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, demonstrations, and retrospectives. 

• Identify opportunities to improve application reliability, automate repetitive operational activities, and reduce recurring support issues. 

• Stay current with emerging technologies and practices across application development, cloud, DevOps, API integration, observability, cybersecurity, automation, and AI. 

Basic Qualifications and Experience 

• Master's / Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. 

• Experience may include a combination of application development, application engineering, production/application support, system integration, testing, or IT operations. 

Must-Have Skills 

• Good understanding of information systems, application architecture, software-development lifecycle, and application-support lifecycle. 

• Experience supporting business or enterprise applications in development, test, and/or production environments. 

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to investigate application incidents, software defects, integration failures, and data-related issues. 

• Understanding of incident, problem, change, and release-management processes. 

• Working knowledge of REST APIs and application integrations. 

• Understanding of relational databases, SQL, and basic data-access concepts. 

• Hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and/or TypeScript. 

• Familiarity with React and Vite, Angular, Vue.js, or another modern front-end framework. 

• Basic knowledge of Python and FastAPI, or a comparable back-end technology. 

• Experience developing, testing, debugging, supporting, and deploying software applications. 

• Understanding of software-testing methodologies including functional, integration, regression, smoke, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing. 

• Experience creating and executing test cases and documenting test results. 

• Familiarity with unit and UI testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent tools. 

• Familiarity with API testing using Postman or equivalent tools. 

• Familiarity with defect and work-management platforms such as Jira or Azure DevOps. 

• Familiarity with Git-based version control, branching, pull requests, and code reviews. 

• Understanding of Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies. 

• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment. 

• Understanding of secure coding principles, OWASP guidance, authentication, authorization, dependency management, and application security. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, and external vendors. 

Good-to-Have Skills 

• Exposure to GxP or regulated systems and associated validation/compliance activities. 

• Experience supporting enterprise applications in a production environment. 

• Familiarity with IT service-management processes and tools such as ServiceNow. 

• Experience working with SaaS and/or vendor-managed enterprise applications. 

• Understanding of cloud platforms and cloud-hosted application architectures. 

• Exposure to monitoring, logging, alerting, or application observability tools. 

• Experience supporting API-based or middleware-based system integrations. 

• Exposure to application lifecycle management, vulnerability remediation, upgrades, patching, and technical-debt remediation. 

• Experience working in cross-functional teams involving business stakeholders, vendors, infrastructure, security, and application-development teams.
