This is a research appointment; the candidate will not be expected to hold clinical duties. Joint or secondary appointments with other Emory departments, centers, or institutes (e.g., Pharmacology, Neurology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Radiology, Psychology, or the Goizueta Brain Health Institute) may be explored based on the candidate's research focus and collaborative interests.
Responsibilities

- Pursue new federal, foundation, and industry funding opportunities and maintain continuous grant support.
- Publish original research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with investigators across the Department of Anesthesiology, the Brain Health Center, the Goizueta Brain Health Institute, and other Emory schools, centers, and institutes.
- Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and junior faculty.
- Participate in departmental research operations, seminars, and academic service as appropriate.
- Contribute to the department's growing translational and clinical-trials infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree)
- A demonstrated track record of successfully competing for and currently holding federal research funding (e.g., NIH R01, R21, K-series, DP2/New Innovator, VA Merit Award, DoD, NSF, or equivalent) as principal investigator or major co-investigator.
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications commensurate with career stage.
- Evidence of an independent, focused research program with potential for growth and continued extramural funding.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to mentor trainees and collaborate across disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research focus in brain health (e.g., neurodegeneration, neuroimaging, biomarkers, cognitive aging) and/or pain research (e.g., chronic pain mechanisms, nociception, neuromodulation, psychophysics, pain biomarkers).
- Experience with neuromodulation techniques, functional neuroimaging (fMRI), electrophysiology, wearable/biosensor technologies, or translational/clinical trial methodology.
- Interest in collaborative, multi-PI, or multi-site research initiatives.
- Prior experience mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or junior investigators.
- Experience with IRB, DSMB, and regulatory processes relevant to human-subjects or translational research.
