Director of Maintenance / Corporate Management
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Maintenance Analyst with professional maintenance experience, a
required bachelor's degree in Finance, and at least two years of professional finance-related experience. This position
focuses exclusively on evaluating maintenance department performance, costs, equipment reliability, work orders, shop
productivity, and opportunities for operational improvement.
The successful candidate must understand maintenance operations firsthand and possess the financial knowledge to
evaluate maintenance-related expenditures, cost trends, and variances. This role turns maintenance data into clear,
actionable recommendations for leadership.
ROLE BOUNDARY | This is a maintenance analysis role - not a corporate finance, accounting, or shop management position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Performance Analysis
• Analyze maintenance activity and individual asset histories across multiple facilities.
• Identify recurring mechanical failures, repeat repairs, excessive repair frequency, and maintenance inefficiencies.
• Compare planned and unplanned maintenance activity, trends, and facility performance.
• Recommend operational improvements and track corrective-action results.
2. Maintenance Cost Analysis
• Analyze maintenance expenses by asset, repair category, equipment type, and facility.
• Calculate maintenance cost per mile for road vehicles and per operating hour for off-road equipment.
• Review labor, parts, tires, and outside repair expenditures; identify unusual or excessive costs.
• Compare internal versus vendor repairs and highlight practical cost-control opportunities.
3. Technician Labor & Shop Performance
• Review technician hours by asset, work order, and repair classification.
• Evaluate shop labor utilization, repair turnaround time, rework, and repeat repairs.
• Compare maintenance productivity between facilities and report avoidable inefficiencies.
4. Equipment Reliability & Downtime
• Track downtime, chronic failures, and repair frequency by asset, manufacturer, and model.
• Relate maintenance activity and costs to equipment age, utilization, and reliability.
• Flag high-maintenance assets for closer review or replacement consideration.
MAINTENANCE ANALYST | JOB DESCRIPTION 2
5. Maintenance Data & Reporting
• Develop weekly and monthly maintenance dashboards and asset-level performance reports.
• Analyze maintenance-management and telematics data; resolve missing or inconsistent records.
• Communicate findings to maintenance and executive leaders; help automate recurring reports.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
Maintenance Background - Required
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in fleet or heavy equipment maintenance, maintenance management, or
maintenance operations analysis.
• Working knowledge of commercial trucks and/or industrial equipment, repair orders, parts consumption, and labor
hours.
• Ability to recognize technical repair patterns, recurrent failures, downtime causes, and shop inefficiencies.
Finance Degree & Experience - Mandatory
• Bachelor's degree in Finance is mandatory. A degree in another discipline or equivalent work experience does not
replace this requirement.
• At least 2 years of professional finance-related experience required, including financial analysis, cost accounting,
expense analysis, or cost reporting.
• Ability to interpret maintenance expenditure reports, analyze cost trends and variances, and allocate repair costs
appropriately.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
Minimum requirements: a bachelor's degree in Finance, 2+ years of finance-related work experience, and the
maintenance background listed above. Financial expertise will be used only to analyze maintenance-related expenses
and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in waste hauling, recycling, transportation, or heavy equipment operations.
• Familiarity with front-load, rear-load, roll-off, tractor-trailer, walking-floor, and tipper equipment.
• Knowledge of loaders, grinders, balers, compactors, conveyors, and similar industrial equipment.
• Experience with CMMS, Samsara or similar telematics, Power BI, and multi-facility reporting.
Performance Expectations
• Identify maintenance inefficiencies early and provide accurate, timely, asset-level reporting.
• Highlight high-cost equipment, recurring failures, and labor inefficiencies.
• Support maintenance leaders with practical recommendations that improve equipment availability and control
maintenance costs.
• Measure the effect of recommended actions and report sustained improvements.

breaking down, why one facility is spending more than another, whether repair hours are reasonable, and which
maintenance changes would improve reliability.
