Why make ONWA your career choice?

Make a difference in the lives of Indigenous peoples by supporting and advocating for positive change. ONWA prides itself on providing all employees with a total rewards package that is generous and supports our workforce and their family members:

VISION

At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honour the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community, provincially, nationally and internationally for generations to come.

SCOPE

The Crisis Response Coordinator provides immediate crisis response, systemic advocacy, stabilization supports, and system navigation services to Indigenous women who are at risk of human trafficking, are actively being trafficked, or are exiting situations of trafficking and exploitation. Reporting to the assigned Branch Manager, this role ensures women receive timely, trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and Community Member-centred supports that promote safety, healing, recovery, and long-term stability.

The Crisis Response Coordinator works collaboratively with Crisis Response Workers, the Crisis Response Team, police services, community agencies, shelters, housing providers, healthcare professionals, and other service providers to coordinate emergency interventions, safe transportation, referrals, advocacy, culturally grounded programming, and ongoing support. The role also provides leadership, training, guidance, and system navigation support to ensure coordinated service delivery, effective crisis response, and successful transitions to long-term supports and resources.
