Description
At ATMI, the Project Manager is the central point of accountability for commercial precast construction projects, guiding each project from initial planning and sale through completion and closeout. Based in Greenfield, Indiana, this role leads coordination across internal departments and works closely with customers, architects/engineers, vendors, and subcontractors. The Project Manager owns project information, anticipates risks, and drives schedule, cost, quality, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction while supporting a high-performance, accountable team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead project planning and execution. Own projects from inception through completion. Review bid documents, construction drawings, specifications, and the scope available at award to identify high-risk or unusual requirements. Organize the project team and coordinate early internal and external planning meetings to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage project intelligence and risk. Gather, share, and act on accurate, timely project information across departments. Identify, report, and proactively manage risks affecting schedule, cost, quality, profitability, efficiency, or legal exposure. Oversee project submittals and precast construction coordination.
- Drive schedules and accountability. Create, update, and manage project schedules and critical milestones. Collaborate with internal and external partners from project sale through closeout, address schedule issues, and hold responsible parties accountable for commitments.
- Report project performance. Provide weekly project status reports to the General Manager, including progress, key decisions, emerging risks, and potential exposure to lost profits, inefficiencies, or legal issues.
- Administer contracts and change orders. Manage customer contracts from receipt through execution; negotiate terms, identify and report contractual risks to the General Manager, and ensure compliance throughout the project. Negotiate vendor and subcontractor agreements; hire and manage subcontractors; generate, negotiate, and administer customer change orders, including claims and disputes; and help maintain the change order log.
- Oversee billing and collections. Support the Contract Administrator with monthly billing, establish and review project schedules of values, confirm accurate and timely invoices, and monitor collections, including retention/retainage.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS & PROJECT CLOSEOUT
- Be the primary customer contact. Represent ATMI professionally, maintain strong customer relationships, coordinate with architects/engineers, manage and document external project communications, and deliver a positive experience that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Deliver successful project closeout. Manage punch lists and field finishing to obtain final customer acceptance. Submit all required closeout documentation, collect final retention within contract terms, and lead post-project reviews of results, lessons learned, and improvement opportunities.
