About Colonial Farm Credit:
Colonial Farm Credit (www.colonialfarmcredit.com) is an agricultural credit cooperative. We make loans for farms and country homes, for buying land, building or improving homes, and for buildings, machinery, livestock and equipment. We also provide production capital for full-time and part-time farmers, and loans for ag-related businesses. We have approximately 75 employees and our offices are open 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Role:
As Regional Lending Manager, you’ll be our front-line leader, coach and manager for the Mechanicsville, West Point, and Goochland offices. Our business model rests on four critical performance areas: Human Resources, Asset Growth, Asset Quality and Earnings. Your job is to keep all four in balance and to improve them together, so your team does well over the long term.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead, coach and manage the lending team across your offices
• Set individual goals tied to each of the four performance areas, and reach them through your own work and your team's work
• Find and carry out strategies that improve all four performance areas at the same pace
• Build and maintain internal controls in your areas to protect the Association's assets and keep internal and external reporting accurate
• Visit current and prospective customers and attend industry events
• Provide oversight and guidance on business decisions that serve both the Association and the borrower
• Review and approve loans within your delegated lending authority, and recommend larger requests to the Chief Operating Officer. Apply Association pricing guidelines and recommend pricing exceptions when a relationship calls for it
• Take part in interviews for your offices and recommend candidates for hire, then lead onboarding and training for new team members.
What You Need to Succeed:
• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or an agricultural field and/or commensurate experience
• At least seven years of experience gained through agricultural or commercial lending, credit and/or credit administration
• Reside within the area served by the Mechanicsville office and its affiliated offices
• Strong sales and negotiation skills
• Strong analysis, judgment, and written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and a team-first approach
• Ability to travel to/from prospective and current customers as well as industry functions (up to 70% travel)
• A valid driver’s license
• Management experience preferred
