The Pereira Laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine investigates the neurobiology of Alzheimer's disease, including the selective regional and cellular vulnerability to tau pathology and neurodegeneration. We are seeking an outstanding Associate Scientist to join the lab's efforts to discover and validate novel therapeutic targets using animal models, postmortem human tissue, iPSCs, and bioinformatics.
- Perform in vivo experiments using mouse models, including stereotaxic injections.
- Conduct molecular and cell biology experiments to support ongoing research projects.
- Perform laboratory techniques, including cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation, cellular fractionation, Western blotting, PCR/qRT-PCR, in situ hybridization, and immunohistochemical labeling.
- Conduct research to develop methodologies, instrumentation, and procedures for medical applications, including analyzing data and presenting findings.
- Design and conduct complex research studies, evaluating alternative methods, computational models, and experimental approaches.
- Plan and conduct studies investigating human or animal diseases, preventive methods, and potential treatments.
- Assist in clinical laboratory operations, as needed.
- Follow established laboratory safety procedures to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training and guidance on medical and laboratory procedures to physicians, residents, students, and research staff.
