As a member of our Float team, you'll gain exposure to a variety of clinic settings, specialties, providers, and workflows across the Highpoint medical group. With comprehensive training across primary care, specialty, pediatric, and walk-in services, this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, learns quickly, and wants to build broad healthcare experience while developing relationships across our physician practices.

PRN/as-needed schedule based on clinic coverage needs and employee availability. Hours are variable and are not guaranteed. Most clinics operate Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend opportunities available at one clinic. This position floats among physician-practice locations in Winchester, Decherd, Sewanee, Monteagle, Huntland, Tullahoma, and Manchester.

How you’ll contribute  

A Receptionist who excels in this role: 

• Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients, visitors, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.

• Greet and assist patients with check-in and check-out, ensuring demographic and other required information is accurate and up to date.

• Schedule patient appointments and assist with coordinating appointments based on clinic and provider availability.

• Answer incoming phone calls, route calls and messages appropriately, and respond to general patient inquiries.

• Verify insurance information and assist with other registration-related activities as needed.

• Collect copays and other patient payments and complete applicable payment documentation.

• Assist with referrals, medical records, and other administrative or clerical needs of the practice.

• Maintain accurate patient and office information within applicable electronic systems and databases.

• Prepare, scan, fax, copy, file, and distribute documents and correspondence as needed.

• Provide reception and administrative coverage across multiple physician practices and adapt to the workflows, providers, and patient populations of each location.

• Maintain an organized and professional front-office environment and assist with monitoring office supplies.

• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, clinic staff, and other departments to support efficient clinic operations.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the clinic.

What we’re looking for 
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, required. Additional requirements include: 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service-focused approach.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

• Critical-thinking skills, sound judgment, and the ability to take appropriate action with minimal supervision.

• Willingness and ability to learn new processes and adapt quickly to different clinic environments, specialties, providers, and workflows.

• Dependable and flexible, with the ability to provide coverage at different physician-practice locations based on staffing needs.

• Comfortable working directly with patients and providing professional, courteous service.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive patient and organizational information.

Preferred

• Previous medical office, physician-practice, reception, administrative, or customer-service experience.

• Previous experience with an electronic medical record (EMR), patient scheduling, or registration system.

Schedule: PRN, as needed | Variable weekday hours with occasional weekend opportunities
