The Netherlands is a growth market for us. Our Amsterdam office serves corporate and institutional clients across the Benelux and the wider EU.

About the Role

As Head of Desk for the Italian market, you will build, lead and grow our Italian sales desk. You are accountable for the desk’s overall revenue performance against weekly, monthly and quarterly targets, in full alignment with our code of conduct and regulatory obligations.

You will set the commercial strategy for the Italian market, lead and develop a team of sales professionals, and remain close to clients by originating and closing key relationships yourself. As a leader in the business, you set the standard for how Monex sells: clients’ long-term interests first, fair outcomes and sustainable revenue.

Reporting Line

This position reports directly to the CEO Netherlands and carries high visibility across the business. You will be based in Amsterdam, working closely with Dealing, Compliance, Credit & Risk, Operations and Marketing, and partnering with leadership and colleagues in London, Madrid and the wider Monex network as the desk grows.

Key Responsibilities

Desk leadership & strategy

• Define and execute the commercial strategy for the Italian market, aligned with Monex Europe’s growth plans
• Own the desk’s daily, weekly and quarterly revenue performance against agreed targets and KPIs
• Set individual targets and KPIs for the team and monitor performance on an ongoing basis
• Identify new products, segments and initiatives that will grow revenue, and present business cases to senior leadership

People management & development

• Lead, coach and develop a team of sales professionals, building a high-performance and compliant sales culture
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and hire talent as the desk grows
• Run regular performance reviews, one-to-ones and development plans
• Embed sales best practice consistently across the desk

Client relationships & market coverage

• Personally originate and manage key relationships with Italian-speaking corporate and institutional clients
• Act as trusted adviser on FX exposure, hedging strategy and international payments
• Lead complex commercial negotiations, ensuring commerciality and margin discipline across the desk

Sales process & enablement

• Ensure the desk maintains a disciplined pipeline with accurate forecasting
• Ensure client databases (FXDB, Salesforce, pipeline trackers) are used effectively and turned into competitive advantage
• Report on desk performance, pipeline and market insights to senior leadership

Conduct, risk & regulatory

• Balance revenue delivery with Monex’s compliance framework across the desk
• Ensure the team adheres to Compliance policies: Treating Customers Fairly, Pricing, Gifts & Entertainment, Complaints, Training & Competence
• Escalate complaints and conduct breaches promptly and support investigations as required
• Ensure all sales activity is logged and maintained per regulatory requirements (call recordings, FXDB logs, correspondence)
• Flag systems and controls weaknesses and conflicts of interest, and lead participation in Sales Audits and Risk Assessments

Market presence

• Stay commercially sharp on competitor activity in the Italian market and use professional networks to inform the desk’s approach
• Lead distribution and marketing activity for the desk, including materials, presentations and roadshows
• Represent Monex at client events and industry conferences

Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience in FX, international payments or financial markets sales, with a proven track record of revenue delivery against target.
• Fluency in Italian and English is mandatory. English is the working language across Monex Europe, and you will lead client relationships in Italian. Other European languages are welcome.
• Proven experience leading and developing sales teams, ideally as Head of Desk, Sales Manager or Team Lead.
• Established network within the Italian corporate and institutional market.
• Strong commercial negotiation skills and comfort owning pricing and margin conversations.
• Solid understanding of the regulatory environment governing FX and payments in Europe.
• Track record of building and managing a pipeline in a target-driven environment.
