Duties and Responsibilities
New business (primary)
- Acquire new 3PL brokerage accounts through prospecting, cold outreach, customer meetings and presentations, with a focus on diversifying Remco's industry mix.
- Build and work a qualified pipeline; maintain accurate weekly activity, pipeline and forecast updates in the CRM (Zoho).
- Develop pricing strategies with the Senior Carrier Sales/Pricing lead; present solutions that win at healthy margins rather than on rate alone.
- Lead RFP/RFQ and mini-bid pursuits from a commercial standpoint: qualify the opportunity, shape the response, and own the customer relationship through award.
- Deliver on assigned new-business, revenue and contribution margin targets.
Onboarding and account growth
- Complete the new-customer onboarding checklist (commercial, credit, operational and system requirements) for every new account or significant expansion.
- Prepare account plans and run quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with significant accounts; identify expansion into additional lanes, modes and Remco services (Special Projects, warehousing, asset fleet).
- Own customer satisfaction and revenue retention on your accounts; resolve escalations with Operations.
Working with Operations
- Understand the brokerage operations model well enough to sell what we can execute; communicate regularly with carrier sales and operations on capacity, service and margin.
- Educate customers on Remco's full service offering and the 3PL market; represent Remco at industry events in your region.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 3+ years of proven net-new sales success in non-asset 3PL freight brokerage (truckload and/or LTL), with a track record you can demonstrate: accounts opened, margin generated, retention.
- Established, portable shipper relationships in your market (GTA, Lower Mainland/BC, or Quebec).
- Working knowledge of cross-border (Canada/US) and domestic OTR freight, equipment types, and market pricing dynamics.
- Comfortable selling on contribution margin and defending price; understands brokerage economics.
- Disciplined pipeline management and CRM hygiene; strong MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with professional-quality customer correspondence and presentations.
- Montreal: fluent French and English (spoken and written).
- Self-starter who can work independently in a regional market while collaborating with a centralized operations team; able to travel locally to customers and periodically to head office.
- Flexible to work outside standard business hours when customer or freight needs require it.
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain or business, an asset
- Experience selling Special Projects/project cargo, warehousing or multi-service 3PL solutions, an asset
- Familiarity with TMW/Truckmate, DAT, Loadlink, an asset
