Sales Representative (Sales Engineer) - Mechanical

The Mechanical Sales Representative (Sales Engineer)’s primary focus is day-to-day sales and customer service.  Will work with the managers to achieve branch/division goals.  The division works as one unit to service our customers and increase market share.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Will need to develop relationships with the mechanical contractors.
• Service our customers in an accurate and timely manner.
• Answer incoming calls and respond to incoming emails from customers.
• Attend manufacturer’s factory/training visits to ensure they are up to date on the latest product developments.
• Train (or assist in training) all project managers and estimators in division.
• Will work with the mechanical division team to do take-offs, pricing and tender preparation for projects.

Project Management

• Responsible for issuing purchase orders to manufacturers and releasing equipment for production. 
• Will work with the mechanical sales team to ensure that all quotations are prepared and ready on the tender date.
• Will participate in quoting large projects.  Will work with the mechanical sales team to ensure all relationships are utilized to put us in the best position to be successful on all projects. 
• Collaborate with team members from other divisions.  Communication between divisions is the key to the overall success of the office. This may include tendering projects, project management or relationship building with customers. 
• Review all Construction Association projects.  Take responsibility for some projects and work with managers to assign projects to project managers within their division
• From time to time the Sales Representative (Sales Engineer) will need to visit jobsites if a problem arises on a project.
• Submittal drawing package preparation or overseeing this being done by project managers within division
• Weekly project review meetings with the mechanical division team. (In some cases, this might be a daily meeting if required)
• Support engineering community.  Work with the Engineering Sales Representative (if one is on the team) or work with the engineers directly.  The goal is to get all E.H. Price represented products specified or equal on all projects. 
• Each Sales Representative (Sales Engineer) works with their division manager when preparing quotes.  There needs to be an overall strategy when quoting projects.   
• Will have sales quotas to meet each year.
• Responsible for negotiating and securing purchase orders. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

• Sales Representative (Sales Engineer) will report to the division manager and/or the branch manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 5 years’ sales experience.   
• An EIT, P.Eng., C.E.T. or M.E.T. is a must. A Bachelor of Commerce degree will be considered for candidates with the correct industry experience. 

• Understanding how to read & interpret construction drawings would be a benefit.
• Experience with HVAC mechanical equipment would be an asset.
