Exterior Cleaner / Groundskeeper – Mall & Parking Lot (Burnaby, BC)

We are hiring an Exterior Cleaner / Groundskeeper to maintain the outdoor areas of a busy retail mall in Burnaby, BC. This is a physically active, outdoor role that includes snow removal, pressure washing, litter control, and general exterior maintenance — keeping the property clean, safe, and presentable for thousands of visitors every day.

Wage: $21.11 per hour
Location: Burnaby, BC
Schedule: Full-Time | Hours vary by season

What You'll Do

Exterior Cleaning & Maintenance (approximately 90% of your time)

• Remove snow and ice and apply sand/salt as directed, following the Snow Management Plan

• Operate and maintain a tractor and snow removal equipment safely and as directed

• Pick up litter across all sidewalks, parking lots, landscaped areas, and loading docks

• Sweep, pressure wash, and weed-control sidewalk curbing and islands on a rotating cycle

• Wipe and empty exterior garbage cans and ashtrays

• Pressure wash mall entrances and anchor tenant entrances bi-weekly (June to October)

• Pressure wash and degrease Building D rear sidewalk and garbage room bi-annually

• Pressure wash all building perimeter sidewalks annually (before June 1st)

• Clean and maintain all exterior storage areas

• Remove pallets and shopping carts to designated areas

• Deploy and reposition parking lot barriers as required

• Inspect all exterior walls, signage, doors, and lamp standards for graffiti and damage — report and remove graffiti within 24 hours

• Immediately clean and sign off on standing water or spills at entrances and service corridors using wet floor signage

• Dust mop and wash service corridor floors using walk-behind machines

• Inspect parking lot for potholes and report to the Property Manager same day

• Monitor and report low gas or supply levels to the Team Leader or Supervisor

• Respond promptly to calls from the Property Manager, Lead Hand, Supervisor, or Manager

• Follow all emergency procedures for fire and sprinkler alarms

• Assist with customer promotions, displays, or table set-up when requested

Administration (approximately 10% of your time)

• Complete incident report forms as required

• Maintain and fill out Exterior Risk Management Logs

What We're Looking For

• Class 5 Driver's Licence (required)

• Ability to safely operate and maintain tractor, snow removal equipment, and housekeeping supplies

• Physical fitness to perform demanding outdoor maintenance tasks in all weather conditions

• Reliable, consistent attendance

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout your shift

• Willingness to follow all health, safety, and security procedures
