General Manager - Commercial & Growth

Our client, a leading payment aggregation platform enabling businesses to accept digital payments through a single integration, seeks to appoint an exceptional General Manager – Commercial & Growth to lead the commercial growth and establish the Brand as the preferred payments partner for enterprise organisations.

This is a board-facing executive leadership role and the successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, transaction growth, merchant acquisition and strategic partnerships, leading the development and execution of commercial strategy, focusing on acquiring and growing large multi-site corporate customers across Zambia.

This role is ideal for a high-performing commercial leader who has built and managed strategic enterprise relationships within banking, telecommunications, technology, FMCG or other B2B sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Growth

• Develop and execute enterprise growth strategy.
• Drive sustainable revenue and transaction growth across the business.
• Identify and pursue new market opportunities and strategic sectors.
• Establish and deliver annual commercial objectives and growth targets.

Enterprise Merchant Acquisition

• Lead acquisition of large corporate and multi-location merchants.
• Develop relationships with CEOs, CFOs, CIOs and other executive decision makers.
• Drive strategic account penetration and customer acquisition initiatives.
• Ensure effective management of the commercial pipeline.

Merchant Development & Transaction Growth

• Grow transaction volumes and revenue from existing merchants.
• Identify opportunities to increase platform adoption and utilisation.
• Develop account growth plans for strategic customers.
• Improve retention and merchant engagement.

Strategic Partnerships

• Identify, negotiate and manage strategic commercial partnerships.
• Develop relationships with key ecosystem participants including financial institutions, technology providers and other strategic partners.
• Evaluate and execute partnership opportunities that accelerate growth.

Commercial Leadership

• Build a high-performance sales and business development culture.
• Introduce structured pipeline management and forecasting disciplines.
• Establish measurable KPIs and accountability frameworks.
• Provide regular commercial reporting to executive leadership and the Board.

Market Intelligence

• Monitor competitive activity and market developments.
• Identify emerging trends and opportunities.
• Influence product and service development through customer and market insights

Requirements

• Must have a Masters in Business Administration or Equivalent.

• Minimum 10 years' experience in senior commercial, sales, business development or relationship management roles.
• Highly Advantageous to have experience in one or more of the following sectors:
• Corporate or Transaction Banking.
• Fintech, Payments & Merchant Services.
• FMCG Key Account Management.
• Enterprise Technology Sales.
• Telecommunications Enterprise Sales.
• Financial Services Business Development.
• Proven track record managing and growing large corporate or enterprise accounts.
• Demonstrated success achieving revenue growth targets.
• Strong contract negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing complex sales cycles and executive-level relationships.
• Must be a proven closer.
• Commercially astute and highly results oriented.
• Strong in building C-suite relationships.
• Mature & comfortable engaging with boards and senior executives.
• Strategic in thinking and disciplined in execution.
• Able to challenge the status quo and drive performance.
• Resilient, self-motivated and accountable.
