Senior Backend Developer

Аbout us:

OfficeRnD has one mission: making flexible and hybrid working the norm, rather than an option.

We started building our SaaS platform back in 2015 to support the future of work. We believe that offering freedom and flexibility is the key to providing a better workspace experience. And that’s what enables us to develop products that matter - for our customers and the world.

The company has offices in Bulgaria, USA, UK, Australia and our teammates are the ones getting us to the top in our market niche. If you're passionate about technology, too, come and join us!

Аbout the role:

We’re seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our Bulgaria-based engineering team and help us elevate our products to the next level. You'll be part of the Operations Hub - the team responsible for the core business logic powering OfficeRnD's Flex product. We’ve stayed ahead of our competition so far because of our ability to deliver elegant, high-quality software in quick iterations, and we want to double down on that. Our tech stack includes Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, MongoDB, Redis, and a few other technologies.

If you are an experienced backend engineer who enjoys owning features end-to-end, solving complex problems, and delivering high-quality software in fast iterations, this role will be a strong fit.

What to bring:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs powering core workspace management workflows, ensuring consistency, performance, and correctness.
• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end product features across frontend and backend layers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Own and lead strategic initiatives related to new products and functionalities.
• Debug and resolve production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Review peer code to ensure correctness, performance, maintainability, and knowledge sharing.
• Write unit and integration tests and collaborate with QA engineers responsible for API and end-to-end test coverage.
• Continuously improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Mentor and support junior engineers on backend fundamentals and system design.
• Contribute to scalable, reliable, and maintainable system architecture.

Mindset & ways of working

• Strong ownership mindset – you take end-to-end responsibility and consistently deliver reliable, well-thought-through solutions
• Product-oriented thinking – you build with long-term maintainability, scalability, and user impact in mind
• Continuous learning mindset and willingness to grow together with the team – actively developing your skills while contributing to the team’s collective knowledge
• Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving – you identify challenges early, communicate clearly, and work effectively with others to find solutions
• Commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement

Technical experience

• 5+ years of experience in fullstack development, preferably in cloud-based environments
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend technology (Node.js preferred; Java or .NET also valued)
• Experience designing and working with APIs and distributed systems
• Solid understanding of databases and data modeling
• Hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating production systems
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also acceptable)
• Strong understanding of software design principles and best practices

What we offer:

• Premium health insurance, including dental coverage
• 25 days of annual paid leave
• An additional day off to celebrate your birthday
• 3 paid volunteering days per year
• Full compensation for the first 3 days of sick leave
• Additional Parental leave
• To ease your commute, we provide you with either parking access or a public transport pass.

• Hybrid work model (minimum 40% of monthly working time onsite)
• Co-funded sports card to support your active lifestyle
• Learning and development opportunities

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we’d love to talk!
