Clinical Trial Manager

About the Role

As a Clinical Trial Manager, you will join NZCR in a newly established role designed to strengthen sponsor partnership, study oversight, and portfolio performance across our growing clinical trial portfolio.

You will be accountable for the successful delivery and oversight of a portfolio of assigned clinical trials from post-award through to close-out. Acting as the primary sponsor contact, you will provide strategic leadership, governance, and performance oversight across your portfolio, ensuring studies are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Clinical Trial Coordinators, who are responsible for day-to-day study delivery, you will provide direction, support, and oversight to ensure operational activities remain aligned with sponsor expectations, regulatory requirements, and organisational objectives. You will proactively manage risks, budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships while leading cross-functional teams to achieve successful trial outcomes.

Reporting to the Research Manager, this role offers the opportunity to shape and influence a key function within NZCR as we continue to grow and deliver world-class clinical research that advances global health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead clinical trials from post-award through close-out
• Manage trial timelines, budgets, and delivery plans
• Build strong relationships with sponsors, CROs, and vendors
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet trial milestones
• Identify, manage, and resolve trial risks and issues
• Monitor recruitment performance and participant outcomes
• Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP and regulatory requirements
• Track financial performance and manage budget variations
• Drive continuous improvement and quality initiatives
• Maintain audit readiness and trial documentation oversight

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• Relevant science or health-related degree
• Experience managing clinical trials or complex projects
• Knowledge of ICH-GCP and clinical research processes
• Experience working with sponsors, CROs, and vendors
• Strong stakeholder management and project leadership skills
• 3-8 years' clinical research or related experience
  
• Previous project management experience preferred
