Marketing Lead, South Africa (Helsinki)

South Africa is one of our fastest growing markets, with more than 2 million users, and we're scaling fast. Now we're looking for a Marketing Lead to own all marketing for the market and take it to the next level.

As Marketing Lead, you'll be responsible for every marketing channel in South Africa, from media buying to direct marketing, and you'll set the direction for how we grow. You'll work from Helsinki as part of our performance marketing hub, and closely with our business development lead in South Africa, who recently joined as our first local hire.

It's the rare combination of a proven business and a team still being built, so your ideas will shape how we grow. And don't worry about the distance: Helsinki and Johannesburg share the same time zone for half the year and are just one hour apart for the rest.

Responsibilities

• Own the performance marketing strategy, budget and results for South Africa across paid, direct marketing and content

• Lead Google and Meta Ads performance, hands-on at first and scaling the setup as the market grows

• Maintain and further develop our already strong email & sms marketing, finding new ways to grow retention and monetization

• Work with our business development lead in South Africa and our performance marketing hub in Helsinki to turn market and partner insight into campaigns

• Contribute to content and SEO initiatives for the South African market

• Help develop our South African sites and improve our conversion funnels together with our tech team, bringing marketing insight into product decisions

• Set KPIs, report on performance and prioritize the next growth opportunities

Requirements

• Proven experience owning performance marketing results, not only running campaigns

• Hands-on experience with Google Ads and/or Meta Ads campaign management

• Budget ownership: experience managing budgets and prioritizing across several channels

• Solid understanding of SEA/SEM, A/B testing, conversion rate optimization and the latest digital marketing tools

• Strong analytical skills with a knack for turning data into actionable insights

• Problem-solving mindset: able to think beyond the obvious and uncover new growth opportunities

• Collaboration: able to lead and coordinate people you may not directly manage, such as local colleagues, freelancers and partners

• Fluent written and spoken skills in English

• Experience in financial services, lead generation or affiliate marketing

• Experience with SEO and content marketing, and ideas for growing organic traffic alongside paid channels

• Knowledge of the South African consumer market
