First Year Apprentice Carpenter (Entry Level – Voyageur Trades Program)

Location: 17940-106A ave, Edmonton, AB

Closing Date: Until Suitable Candidate Found

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is seeking a First-Year Apprentice Carpenter to participate in the Voyageur Trades training program with the Education, Training, and Research Department, a hands-on training opportunity designed to support Metis citizens in developing practical carpentry skills. The opportunity is offered as a part of the Voyageur Trades Program and applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for programs and services.

Reporting to the Manager, Voyageur Trades Program, the Apprentice Carpenter will support Journeyperson Carpenters in the delivery of framing, finishing, and construction tasks within the Voyageur Trades Program. This role will develop foundational carpentry skills through supervised project work, hands-on instruction, and community-based learning. This position will be a good fit for someone who has completed pre-apprenticeship training or has started their path. The Voyageur Trades Program will help you gain the hands-on experience and hours that you may need to move forward. The successful Apprentice will work alongside Red Seal Journeypersons, build real skills on real job sites, and be part of projects that support Métis communities.
