Student Placement

Why Choose to volunteer with Red Cross?

The program

As a humanitarian organisation, the role of Australian Red Cross Emergency Services is to support individuals and communities to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. This includes assisting people to understand emergencies and take preparedness measures to reduce the impacts and effects of emergencies.

The opportunity

The student placement will work with the emergency services team to plan and facilitate community engagement and disaster resilience activities, such as our school-based Pillowcase Program, and RediPlan workshops. The student placement will be given the opportunity to attend face to face and online training courses. The student will become a member of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation and work together with a diverse team of staff and volunteers.

The impact

As a placement student, you will help a person to recover from disaster by reducing their initial distress, facilitating their access to physical, emotional, and social support, and helping to build their ability to cope with the aftermath and ongoing changes that can happen.
