Thumbnail & Repackaging Strategist Lead

Who You Are:

We’re looking for a highly experienced YouTube Strategist with 2-3 years of experience. Who can ideate unique, data-backed and compelling thumbnails that make people click. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping how our videos are presented in the world. This includes being part of the strategy for thumbnails which are not performing across our network of channels and repackaging an older videos to help improve revenue performance.

Your Responsibilities and Skills:

🔹Thumbnail Strategy

• Manage and provide feedback to thumbnail designers to ensure deadlines are met, and designs are completed before video publish date.

• Ideate thumbnail briefs, mockups of thumbnails to be created for designers.

• Utilize AI tools such as Weavy and Claude for your workflow

• Design Software Experience: Utilize Photoshop for any final adjustments to thumbnail designs with multiple design versions.

• YouTube Metrics Analysis: Analyze key YouTube metrics and analytics to gauge content effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

• Collaboration with production departments to ensure the thumbnail and video content align to maximise video performance.

• Contribute in channel ideation sessions and analytics meetings, providing packaging insights

• Children Specific Content: Stay informed about developments in children's entertainment to resonate with the target audience.

🔹Video Repackaging

• Ideate clear, strategic thumbnail mockups to repackage older videos, based on channel needs.

• Collaborate with the analytics and creative teams to identify high-potential content for repackaging, using visual hooks and trends.

• Identify poor performing videos, potential repackaging opportunities

• Trends Integration: Incorporate current audience’s trends into thumbnails to maintain relevance and engagement.

🔹 Collaboration & Workflow

• Communicate proactively with the team focusing on solutions.

• Respond to feedback swiftly and iterate with precision and efficiency.

• Deadline Management and Organization: Adhere to project deadlines and maintain organizational systems and calendars to ensure timely completion of tasks, facilitating smooth project progression. Work with urgency when needed to deliver emergency thumbnails or repackage briefs under tight timelines.

• Preparation and Presentation: Organise and format your research and ideas for presentation to colleagues and supervisors in a clear, effective and concise manner.

• Ideation: Participate in weekly ideation meetings for Make Waves (Live Action), EYstreem (Minecraft), Milo and Chip (Minecraft & Roblox), and EYreacts (Reaction) alongside showrunners, writers.

🔹 Research

• YouTube Research: Regular consumption, viewing and scraping content across the YouTube platform for unique ideas, outliers and different packaging strategies from both adjacent and nonadjacent audiences and competitors.

• External Research: Regular consumption, viewing and engagement of pop culture, content and trends from social media platforms, film and TV, traditional media and changing real-life preferences and habits.

Requirements:

• A good sense of maturity and proactive communication

• Preparing thumbnails or switching designs over weekends if necessary

• Ability to meet and understand deadlines.

• Ability to comprehend feedback and implement it.

• Experience and willingness to use and implement AI tools (Claude Code, Gemini, etc)

• 1-2+ years experience in Adobe Photoshop

• Deep understanding of composition, colour theory, lighting, and text integration for YouTube thumbnails.

• Ability to design with algorithm and audience behaviour in mind, not just aesthetics.

• Historical knowledge of Film and TV, YouTube, Social Media, Pop Culture and Traditional Media

• Basic understanding of Minecraft, Roblox and Live Action YouTube content

• Frequently consuming content of all types.

• Able to ideate both within parameters and blue-sky.

• Experience working with top-tier creators or large YouTube networks.

• Experience in packaging strategy, ideation.

• Experience with your own YouTube channel that has performed well.
