Project Manager

Our client is a European deep-tech startup developing next generation radar systems for the detection and tracking of small, low flying drones.

The team works across radar architecture, RF hardware, signal processing, embedded systems and data processing software. This is a fast moving R&D environment where strong project management is critical. Your role is to bring structure to complexity, align engineering teams, remove friction from execution and help turn ambitious technical development into clear and predictable progress. You will contribute to building products designed for real world deployment and shaping the future architecture of security and defence.

The role

We are looking for a Project Manager with a technical background to run the product development process and keep the engineering teams moving in one direction. The product combines RF, detectors, embedded systems, backend software and mechanical design. Several engineering streams run in parallel and depend on each other.

You will work directly with the Chief of Strategy, who leads communication with customers and investors, and with engineers across all streams. You take direction and feedback from the Chief of Strategy, turn it into an adjustment plan, and work with the team so the project follows it. You do need to see the high-level architecture and to go deeper where problems appear: talk to engineers, read the documentation and understand what the options are.

Responsibilities

• Manage the product development process, define milestones, timelines and priorities across parallel engineering streams

• Follow how the architecture develops and shift the focus of the project to areas where problems appear

• Go deeper into technical issues when needed: talk to engineers, read, and understand why problems happen and what must be chosen

• Collect feedback from departments and from the Chief of Strategy, and turn it into an adjustment plan with the team

• Balance engineering ideas with product constraints

• Set up and run Jira so that engineers keep their tasks up to date and communication works

• Set the standard for technical documentation: how it is written, how iterations and updates are handled

• Work hands-on with the team when a task needs it

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Project Manager managing technical projects or engineering teams.

• Strong technical or engineering background with the ability to understand complex architectures, dependencies, and trade-offs.

• Proven track record driving project delivery, setting up Jira workflows, and managing execution, risks, and prioritization.

• Excellent communication skills to translate technical topics effectively between engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to facilitate technical discussions, challenge proposals constructively, and align strong-minded experts on product decisions.

• Strong ownership and high-level project visibility with the capability to dive deep into technical details to resolve blockers.

Nice to have

• Previous hands-on experience with C++, Embedded Systems, Rust, or RF.

• Background in telecommunications or radio communications, including 5G/6G networks, defence robotics (UGV), or IoT.

• Experience working in a product-focused engineering environment where technical decisions must be balanced against customer and business requirements.
