Data Collection Operations Lead

About REVEL

REVEL is an AI robotics company developing physical intelligence for general-purpose humanoid robots. We capture the force, dexterity and intent of human work with our Neural Gambit wearable, and use it to train RAI, the intelligence that powers our robots. REVEL is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with R&D and engineering facilities in Prague and Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. This role is on-site with our engineering team in the Czech Republic.

The role

The LEGO data engine is how REVEL generates high-quality human demonstrations at scale. We are looking for a Data Collection Operations Lead to own the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of our human data-collection pipeline.

You will work at the interface between biomedical engineering, experimental science and robotics. Working closely with the sEMG/biomedical engineering and ML/robotics teams, you will translate experimental protocols into reliable operational processes, coordinate data-collection operators, maintain high standards of data quality, and continuously improve throughput.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role. You will spend significant time on the data-collection floor, not only managing from a desk.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operation of REVEL's human data-collection facility/workstation.

• Translate experimental protocols developed with biomedical/robotics scientists into clear, executable SOPs for operators.

• Plan and coordinate data-collection sessions, staffing, participant/operator schedules and workstation utilization.

• Recruit, onboard and train data-collection operators.

• Define and enforce standards for:

  • sensor/wearable setup

  • participant preparation

  • protocol execution

  • data labelling

  • metadata capture

  • data-quality control

  • equipment handling.

• Monitor data quality, throughput, failure rates and operator performance using appropriate operational metrics.

• Identify systematic sources of bad data and work with the engineering/science team to eliminate them.

• Own the feedback loop between the data-collection floor and the biomedical/ML teams.

• Coordinate rapid iteration of collection protocols when experimental requirements change.

• Develop processes that make high-quality data collection repeatable across operators and across shifts.

• Troubleshoot operational, hardware and workflow problems and coordinate escalation to engineering when necessary.

• Maintain documentation and version control of collection SOPs and operational procedures.

• Ensure that changes to protocols are consistently communicated and implemented.

• Build processes for identifying and rejecting low-quality recordings before they enter downstream ML pipelines.

• Help establish realistic capacity and throughput targets as the data engine scales.

• Drive continuous improvement in quality, throughput, reproducibility and operator efficiency.

• Partner with software/ML engineers to ensure that the data produced by the operation meets downstream training requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in operations, laboratory management, manufacturing/production, research operations, clinical research, experimental engineering or a comparable hands-on environment.

• Demonstrated experience owning a physical workflow from end to end, rather than only performing individual tasks.

• Experience managing or coordinating multiple people, shifts, sessions or parallel activities.

• Strong ability to create and enforce standard operating procedures.

• Strong analytical mindset: able to use operational and quality metrics to identify problems and make decisions.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong instinct for data quality and experimental consistency.

• Comfortable working hands-on with wearable/biomedical hardware and technical equipment.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with scientists, engineers and non-technical operators.

• Comfortable operating in an environment where protocols and workflows are continuously changing and improving.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Willingness to work on-site in the Czech Republic.

Bonus qualifications

• Experience in a biomedical, neuroscience, biomechanics, robotics, medical-device, clinical-research or human-subject research environment.

• Experience collecting data from human participants.

• Familiarity with EMG, physiological signals, motion capture, force/torque sensing or wearable sensors.

• Experience operating or managing a research/experimental laboratory.

• Experience with data annotation or dataset production.

• Experience with quality-control systems for experimental or production data.

• Familiarity with Python, SQL, spreadsheets, or other tools for operational/data analysis.

• Experience with continuous-improvement methodologies.

• Experience scaling a workflow from a small number of experiments into a repeatable high-throughput operation.

• Experience working with engineers/scientists to translate experimental requirements into operational procedures.

Why REVEL

• Work That Ships: We capture how skilled humans work, their force, touch, and judgment, and our robots do the work. You put robots on a paying customer's floor, not in a demo loop

• The Team: Colleagues from NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Neura Robotics, and founders you work with directly. No layers, no process between you and the decisions

• Your Own Hardware: A top-spec GPU workstation, cluster access, and hands-on time with the robots you're building. Not a software sandbox

• Keep Learning: Conference budget for select roles (GTC, CoRL, ICRA), and room to publish and contribute to open source where our IP allows

What we offer

• Unlimited Paid Time Off: Real flexibility to take time away when you need it. We trust our people to own their work, their time, and their results

• Prague, On-Site: Robots need hands, so we work together in our Prague lab. Moving here? We sponsor your work visa and cover relocation

• Lunch, On Us: Complimentary lunch every working day, plus coffee, snacks, and drinks whenever you need a boost
