What does a Software Architect do at PALO IT?

As a Software Architect at PALO IT, you will lead and enhance the design of technology solutions through the following key responsibilities:

• Lead the design and evolution of technology solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Drive architectural decisions and trade-offs (e.g., microservices vs modular monolith) while applying architectural patterns such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean/Hexagonal Architecture, and event-driven approaches.

• Design, build, and continuously evolve REST APIs, incorporating versioning, contract-first practices, backward compatibility, and robust error handling.

• Define and enforce engineering standards, emphasizing clean code, testing strategy, code reviews, observability, security practices, and CI/CD.

• Mentor and coach engineers to foster a delivery culture that promotes high standards in engineering practices.

• Collaborate with Product, QA, UX, and stakeholders to refine project scope, assess technical risks, shape the technology roadmap, and deliver incrementally.

• Advocate for AI-first engineering practices (Copilot/GenAI), implementing governance, quality gates, security measures, and comprehensive testing.

What experience do you need for this role?

You're a strong fit for this Software Architect role if you have:

• Must-have Skills:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership (e.g., Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or senior roles with leadership duties).

  • Strong expertise in backend development using Java (preferably versions 17/21/25+) and solid testing practices (e.g., JUnit/Mockito) with an awareness of performance metrics.

  • Proven ability to design and articulate software architecture focused on microservices/modular monoliths, Clean/Hexagonal architecture, SOLID principles, integration patterns, and effective API design.

  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, including CI/CD, Git workflows, observability (logs/metrics/traces), and a secure-by-design mindset.

• Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ, event-driven architectures, CQRS, and saga/outbox patterns.

  • Proficiency in Docker/Kubernetes, Terraform/IaC, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

  • Knowledge of security best practices including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, and OWASP guidelines.

  • Experience handling high-traffic systems, performance tuning, and caching strategies.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering methodologies and establishing quality/security guardrails.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decisions and team alignment.

  • Proficiency in professional English (B2+ preferred) for seamless global collaboration and documentation.
