Overview:

About the Role
Shape the research and innovation agenda of RMIT’s School of Medicine.

RMIT, in partnership with Northern Health and other stakeholders, is in the process of establishing a new progressive Medical School to train doctors of the future, driven by excellence through equity. The program combines the technological prowess of RMIT and the innovative and culturally diverse network of Northern Health to meet the needs of the communities we serve and address national health workforce needs.

As Deputy Dean, Research & Innovation, you will bring your research expertise and academic leadership to a role with scope to influence research excellence, research training and impact. Reporting directly to the Dean of Medicine and joining the School Executive, you will help shape and deliver RMIT’S Medical research vision, priorities and performance.

This opportunity will appeal to an established clinician research leader who combines strategic vision with the ability to bring people and partnerships together. Working with the Dean, School Executive, academic leaders, research centres, institutes and external partners, you will develop and deliver the School’s research and innovation strategy. You will foster a collaborative culture of research excellence, grow interdisciplinary and translational research, and strengthen RMIT’s national and international reputation for research impact.

You will identify emerging research opportunities and build productive partnerships across RMIT’s interdisciplinary research community, Northern Health, the wider health sector, industry and community. By strengthening sustainable research capability and capacity, you will enable collaborations that translate discovery into improved health outcomes, inform policy and clinical practice, and deliver wider societal benefit.

Central to your leadership will be championing research excellence and innovation, supporting higher degree by research (HDR) students to succeed, and developing the research workforce. You will align these efforts with School, College and University priorities, helping build the people and capability that underpin lasting research impact.
