Your Responsibilities
- Partner with technicians and engineers to set up and execute experiments, implement modifications to process equipment, and characterize results.
- Collect, organize, and analyze process and quality data to support engineering decisions and identify meaningful trends.
- Engage vendors and suppliers to source process equipment, instrumentation, sensors, and components; request technical specifications; and evaluate equipment options and machine upgrades.
- Support the development of core manufacturing processes and their associated equipment, spanning areas such as slurry preparation, roll-to-roll coating, alloying, and part singulation.
- Assist with the assembly, configuration, and commissioning of new equipment, including mechanical assembly, wiring, etc.
- Author and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and related technical documentation for evolving processes and equipment — a significant and ongoing part of the role as we formalize new processes.
- Provide general engineering support across the team as project needs change.
Responsibilities will evolve over the course of the term and are expected to include a mix of the following:
Your Required Skills and Expertise
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- A hands-on disposition and genuine interest in working directly with processes and equipment.
- Comfortable moving between different types of tasks and problems in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data
- Clear, organized technical writing ability.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience of any kind — academic labs, personal or maker projects, machining, electronics, coding, or a prior co-op/internship — is valued.
- A safety-conscious, self-directed, and organized approach to work.
What You'll Gain
- Ownership of meaningful work and broad exposure across process and equipment engineering at a growing advanced-materials company.
- Experience spanning experimentation, equipment build, vendor management, data analysis, and technical documentation.
- The opportunity to see your contributions implemented on a live development and production line.
