About You

FOX is seeking a senior, strategic, and technical Vice President with a strong foundation in Information, Security, Network, and Broadcast Media Technologies. This leader will be part of a team responsible for setting business-wide technical strategy that supports media technology across multiple business units.  This role requires a versatile problem-solver with a proactive approach to leading teams, a strategic mindset, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions and architecture with FOX’s broader business goals.  

Reporting to the SVP, Media Technology & Engineering, we are looking for a Vice President, Media Technology to coordinate and implement strategic technology initiatives associated with both broadcast and digital platforms to align with the company standardizations (cloud first), AI and technical goals.

The major areas of responsibility include all new initiatives for AI, IP and Cloud based Broadcast Operations for news, programming, station automation, virtualization & cloud projects, station delivery platforms for OTT, Streaming, and OTA, Technology support of all News and local production, Media Technology and Transmission.

This mission critical role will be responsible for collaboration with all departments on new technologies, media architecture and workflow development to enable high quality, fast-paced content creation and will lead the technical side of the creative vision for digital experiences, disaster recovery and resiliency on all platforms.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic Technology Implementation: Coordinate and implement strategic technology and operations initiatives associated with both broadcast television and digital platforms to align with station goals and projects
• Media Implementation: Supervise and manage all aspects of the Media architecture, implementations, projects and the multi-platform content distribution across FOX
• Team Leadership: Supervise a team of Media Solution Engineers to architect, implement and manage modern broadcast technologies that support our business
• Technology Collaboration & Workflow Development: Collaborate with all departments on architecture and workflow development to enable high quality, fast-paced content creation and distribution.
• Video Network & Security Implementations: Collaborate with Information Security and Networking teams to define, implement, and maintain secure network architectures—including firewall management, and network segmentation—to ensure security policy compliance across all FOX business units.

• Video Network Design & Strategy: Partner with the network team to develop and execute a comprehensive network architecture framework focused on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with key vendors to ensure service levels meet expectations, validate technical requirements, and drive procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and optimize infrastructure performance. Optimize infrastructure to meet evolving business needs. Tune alarming and monitoring systems to eliminate noise making operations teams more efficient.
• Project Management: Collaborate with the Critical Response team and PMO to manage projects, including technology upgrades, expansions, and new integrations, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery. 
• Capital Budget Management: Prepare and manage the fiscal operating budget for the technical department, including capital budget
• Documentation & Compliance:  Develop and maintain processes for up-to-date documentation of network, security, information, and broadcast infrastructures, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Driving Adoption: Promote the adoption of new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to improve team efficiency and standardize deployment procedures.
• Mentorship:   Mentor and support cross-functional teams, fostering skill development, collaboration, and innovation. Guide teams to define requirements, manage expectations, and deliver high-quality solutions, cultivating a motivated and engaged engineering environment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with tech leaders to align with the broader Media strategy and ensure adherence to security policies.
• Innovation: Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the team remains at the forefront of innovation while maintaining backward compatibility.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Bachelor’s degree (computing or engineering program preferred) and/or formal training in Technology or a related field
• Minimum 10+ years in a broadcasting operations and engineering management role
• Proven experience as a team builder and leader that provides clear structure and managerial oversight of the Technology Department
• Significant experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing, and maintaining broadcasting industry equipment and information technology systems
• Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
• Executive-level communication and presentation abilities, with a proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders.
• Experience in administration of broadcast file workflows and play-out systems
• Broadcast IP Routing deployments
• Knowledge in AWS cloud solutions
• Knowledgeable in control room automation systems (ELC, Ignite or Ross)
• Thorough understanding of FCC rules and regulations
• Familiarity with all applicable FCC, OSHA rules & regulations
• In-depth understanding of a broadcast station including news production, live event production, studio operation, file-based content creation and editing/transport/transmission
• Ability to integrate new technologies into media operation on multiple delivery platforms such as broadcast, streaming and OTT
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas strategically, influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, and anticipate diverse perspectives and responses.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills will be expected as well as strong interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, travel with night, weekend, holiday and on-call work in support of a 24/7/365 operation
• Excellent stress and crisis management skills, with the ability to multi-task and make informed and appropriate decisions under pressure
