Corporate Staff Accountant

 This position is an entry level role in the corporate accounting function of a growing, employee-owned (ESOP) construction company.  The Corporate Staff Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager on core accounting responsibilities and day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities 

Monthly Accounting 

• Assist with monthly close activities, including preparation of balance sheet and bank reconciliations. 

• Support general ledger maintenance and basic journal entry preparation. 

• Help ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting. 

• Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments, coding transactions accurately, and other transactional accounting functions as needed. 

• Help maintain organized accounting records and documentation. 

Payment Processing & Transactional Support 

• Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments. 

• Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting functions as needed. 

• Help code transactions accurately while maintaining the proper documentation consistent with internal SOP. 

Special Projects & Operational Support 

• Contribute to special projects as assigned, including process improvements, system enhancements, and integration of new or acquired entities. 

• Partner with cross functional teams that would be assigned for various ad hoc projects.   

Qualifications & Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred. 

• Accounting experience preferred; open to candidates with varying levels of experience . 

• Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations. 

• Experience with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel preferred. 

• Construction or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required.
