Sales Manager

Description

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Sales Manager is responsible for customer retention and profitability for the profit center in addition to training and leading the sales team, and developing business and assisting guests in the buying experience. The Sales Manager will be responsible for analyzing sales figures and developing effective sales techniques. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of automotive sales experience and a proven track record of closing deals and retaining customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate marketing and sales of new and pre-owned vehicles.
• Assume responsibility for customer retention and profitability in the Retail Sales Department.
• Effective time management, knowledge of market potential, and performance standards.
• Forecasts goals and objectives for sales, gross and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.  
• Hires, trains, motivates, coaches and monitors the performance of all new-vehicles sales employees.  
• Assists individual salespeople in setting goals and objectives and providing them with the support to meet those goals. Conducts regular sales meetings.  
• Understand dealership policies, procedures, and sales systems. Keeps informed of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect new-vehicle sales.  
• Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees, ensuring proper staffing at all times.  
• Develops, implements and monitors a follow-up system for new-vehicle purchases.  
• Maintains teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment throughout the sales, delivery and follow up process.  
• Set standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining inventory.
• Ensure we remain competitive in the market.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• High School diploma or equivalent. 
• At least five years of automotives sales experience.
• Valid driver’s license with good standing MVR.
• Successful track record of developing relationships and closing sales.
• Proven knowledge of effective sales strategies and best practices.  
• Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control and management.
• Excellent leadership skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an MVR in good standing.
• Ability to obtain a CDL may be required
• Evenings, holiday, and weekend work may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Requires the ability to accurately review, interpret, and process written materials, electronic information, data, and computer-based content.
• Frequent verbal and written communication is required through in-person interactions, telephone conversations, virtual meetings, and electronic communications. 
• Frequent repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers is required for keyboarding, writing, data entry, and handling documents and office equipment. 
• Requires manual dexterity to grasp, handle, pinch, and manipulate files, records, supplies, and office equipment. 
• Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing stairs may be required to access materials, attend meetings, and perform assigned duties. 
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving of office supplies, files, records, and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds may be required; use of a ladder or step stool is rare.

JOB DETAILS:

• Type: Salary + Bonus
• Base Salary Compensation Range: $100,000 - $120,000
• Bonus Eligibility: Yes with total earning potential exceeding $200,000
• Reports To: General Manager
