Full-Time, Third Shift
BHCOR-Cor Adult Psych Unit I Corbin, KY
The Adult Psychiatric I unit is licensed for 22 acute psychiatric beds for patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis. The Adult Psychiatric I unit specializes in adult care of patients 18 years old and older and an interdisciplinary treatment team approach is utilized in caring for patients.
Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards. Must possess ability to supervise LPNs, CNAs, MHTs, Unit Secretaries, and Clinical students. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
Description:
- Provides safe, high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.
- Monitors patient conditions, administers treatments and physician orders, and documents patient care accurately.
- Educates patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and discharge needs.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes and continuity of care.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, clinical judgment, leadership, and teamwork in daily nursing practice.
- Maintains compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, licensure, and continuing education standards.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current RN license in the state of Kentucky or Kentucky work permit required.
- Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- No experience required; patient care experience preferred.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire.
- Additional required training includes Glucometer, Aegis, RN Patient Deterioration, Life-Threatening Arrhythmia, and Nurse Wound Care training within established timeframes.
