Angel Program Employee

Description

The Angel Program Employee provides individualized support to students who require additional assistance with behavioral, social, emotional, communication, or daily living needs. The employee works closely with classroom teachers, BCBA consultants, school administration, parents/guardians, and other professionals to help students access the school environment and participate successfully in the educational program.

The Angel Program Employee is expected to support the mission and Catholic identity of Holy Rosary Catholic School while maintaining a safe, respectful, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.

Essential Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in education, special education, psychology, behavioral science, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with children with special learning, behavioral, developmental, or communication needs is preferred.
• Applicants must either currently be trained/certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or be willing and able to complete the required RBT training within the first 90 days of employment.
• Ability to work effectively with students individually and in small-group settings.
• Strong communication, patience, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
• Ability to receive and implement direction from teachers, administrators, and other members of the student's support team.
• Commitment to the mission, values, and Catholic identity of Holy Rosary Catholic School.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and school employment requirements.

Requirements

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support

• Provide individualized support to assigned students throughout the school day.
• Assist students in accessing classroom instruction, activities, transitions, and school events.
• Support students in developing independence and appropriate self-management skills.
• Assist students with organizational skills, classroom routines, and daily expectations.
• Provide appropriate assistance with personal care or other student needs when assigned and trained to do so.

Behavioral Support

• Implement behavioral strategies and interventions as directed by the student's educational or behavioral support plan.
• Use positive reinforcement and other appropriate behavior-support strategies.
• Help students develop appropriate social, communication, and self-regulation skills.
• Collect and document behavioral or other student data when required.
• Follow school procedures for responding to behavioral concerns and safety situations.
• Maintain a calm, respectful, and supportive approach when working with students experiencing behavioral difficulties.

RBT Responsibilities

• Complete RBT training within the first 90 days of employment if not already trained.
• Maintain any required RBT training or credentials according to applicable standards.
• Implement behavior-analytic strategies under appropriate supervision and direction.
• Accurately collect and record data as required.
• Communicate relevant observations and student progress to the appropriate teacher, coordinator, or supervisor.
• Maintain professional boundaries and follow all applicable ethical and confidentiality requirements.

Classroom Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other school personnel.
• Follow classroom procedures and teacher direction.
• Support, rather than replace, the classroom teacher's instructional responsibilities.
• Assist with modifications, accommodations, and individualized supports when directed by the student's educational team.
• Encourage students to participate as independently as possible rather than creating unnecessary dependence on adult assistance.

Communication and Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and appropriate communication with the BCBA consultant, classroom teachers, parent/guardian, and school administration.
• Document significant student concerns, incidents, progress, and other information as required.
• Protect the confidentiality of student records and information.
• Maintain a professional relationship with students, families, faculty, and staff.
• Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and Angel Program training.
• Follow all Holy Rosary Catholic School policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designated supervisor.

Physical and Work Requirements

The position may require:

• Sitting, standing, walking, and moving throughout the school building and campus during the school day.
• Assisting students during transitions and activities.
• Responding appropriately to students who may display challenging or unsafe behaviors.
• Maintaining appropriate supervision of assigned students.

RBT Training Requirement

RBT Status Requirement: An applicant who is already RBT trained or credentialed may begin employment with that qualification. An applicant who is not currently RBT trained may be hired provided that the applicant demonstrates the ability and willingness to complete the required RBT training within the first 90 days of employment. Continued employment may be contingent upon successful completion of the required training and any applicable competency or credentialing requirements.
