Maintenance Technician - San Antonio

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician position is located in San Antonio, TX and is primarily responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and tools in a manufacturing plant, and for keeping equipment running through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate has working knowledge of general electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry work. Additional responsibilities include general building maintenance and basic facility repairs.

This position is located at the San Antonio facility (San Antonio, TX).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Reports to the Sr. Operations Manager to receive the day's assignments.
• Performs preventative and regular maintenance so equipment and tools operate efficiently and safely.
• Troubleshoots, identifies, and resolves mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues with industrial machinery and tools.
• Repairs, installs, and replaces components in industrial equipment and the facility as needed.
• Performs general building maintenance and basic facility repairs.
• Keeps accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Assists with loading or unloading trucks and moving furniture when needed.
• Follows company policies regarding safety.
• Special projects or duties as assigned by management or required due to business needs.
   
   

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems; working knowledge of plumbing and carpentry.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks (e.g. lifting, climbing).
• Knowledge of the basic use of small power tools and hand tools; mechanically inclined.
• Able to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions, and to interpret instructions given in written, verbal, or schedule form.

• Reads and understands work instructions, drawings, and bills of materials; reads and comprehends instructions, correspondence, and memos.
• Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and computing rates and ratios.
• Learns and understands materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and brass; knows tubing diameter by sight (e.g. 1 ½ in and 2 in).
• Ability to learn precision assembly training; attention to detail.
• Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, one-on-one and in small groups.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Manufacturing, assembly, or machine-operating experience is a plus.
• Bilingual in English / Spanish is helpful.

Work Environment

Travel. None. The role is based on-site in the production facility.

Work environment. Manufacturing and warehouse setting: light assembly, machining, polishing, stockroom, and shipping and receiving. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and the noise level is usually moderate. Steel-toed shoes are required.
