Sacred Heart University’s Department of Management in the Welch College of Business & Technology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management, beginning Fall 2027, pending final budgetary approval.

We seek an engaged scholar and educator specializing in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, or Innovation who is passionate about creating an exceptional student experience and contributing to the department's innovative and entrepreneurial culture. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research, teaching, or professional interests include artificial intelligence, technology management, and emerging technologies, and who can contribute to the development of new courses, programs, and student experiences in these areas.

The Department of Management brings together faculty with expertise in strategy, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, innovation, human resource management, operations and supply chain management, business law, and international management. The department offers a B.S. in Management, supports several undergraduate minors, and contributes to the College's MBA program. Across these programs, faculty emphasize rigorous scholarship, student-centered teaching, and active, experiential learning.

Faculty also have opportunities to connect teaching, scholarship, and community engagement through initiatives such as the Pioneer Pitch Competition, the peer-reviewed New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, and collaborations with SHU's Center for Nonprofits.

Teaching & Student Engagement:

Excellence in teaching is central to the department’s mission. We seek candidates who create engaging, rigorous learning environments that strengthen students’ critical thinking, leadership, ethical reasoning, and managerial decision-making.

Teaching opportunities include undergraduate and graduate management courses aligned with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise. Candidates interested in developing courses related to artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, innovation, and technology management are particularly encouraged to apply. Additional information can be found in the Management course descriptions.

The department emphasizes active and experiential learning, connecting management concepts with real organizational and entrepreneurial challenges through case studies, projects, simulations, competitions, and business and community partnerships. We especially value faculty who enjoy mentoring students, encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, and connecting classroom learning with professional practice. An interest in incorporating data, analytics, and emerging technologies into management education is a plus.

Scholarship:

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda and contribute to the intellectual life of the department and College. We value meaningful scholarship that informs management practice, advances academic research, and connects with teaching and student learning. We particularly welcome research interests in entrepreneurship, strategy, innovation, technology management, artificial intelligence, and the organizational implications of emerging technologies. Collaborative and interdisciplinary research across business and technology disciplines is encouraged.
