 The Role

The Forklift Operator is responsible for accurately picking, counting, labeling, scanning, and racking products in a cold freezer environment. This role moves goods between production and freezer or cooler areas using a forklift or power jack, maintains inventory accuracy, and supports a clean and safe work area. The position requires regular and repetitive lifting of up to 50 pounds, stacking products on pallets up to 6 feet high, and standing for extended periods. This position is a union role. 

What You’ll Work On

The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Move goods from production areas to the freezer or cooler using a forklift or power jack.
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and accurately pick frozen goods for orders.
• Scan inventory into designated racks.
• Label all inventory accurately.
• Keep the work area clean and safe at all times.
• Stand for extended periods while performing assigned duties.
• Comply with all company and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Meet departmental key performance indicators.
• Perform related duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

Must-Haves

• Current forklift certification.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to work under pressure in a cold warehouse environment.
• Ability to work in cold environments ranging from 0-25 degrees
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assignments within the parameters of provided instructions and standard accepted practices.
• Ability to comply with Schweid & Sons policies and GMP procedures.
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions in accordance with applicable GMP, USDA, and OSHA requirements.
• Regular and punctual attendance, with the ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stack products on pallets up to 6 feet high, and stand for extended periods.

Nice-To-Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous forklift, warehouse, shipping, receiving, or inventory experience.
• Experience using warehouse scanning or inventory systems.
• Experience working in food manufacturing or a refrigerated distribution environment.

 What We Offer

• Hourly Pay: The expected compensation for this role is $18.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process.

 Work Environment

This is an on-site forklift operator position in Carlstadt, New Jersey. The work is performed in a fast-paced, refrigerated warehouse and cold freezer environment. The role requires standing for extended periods, regularly and repetitively lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, stacking products on pallets up to 6 feet high, and operating a forklift or power jack as authorized. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
