Overview
A Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This position plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by ensuring food is prepared accurately, efficiently, and consistently. The Line Cook works closely with kitchen leadership and team members to maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while supporting smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation requirements.
- Set up and stock assigned workstations with all necessary supplies and ingredients before service.
- Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and kitchen facilities.
- Monitor product quality and freshness, properly storing and rotating inventory using FIFO practices.
- Communicate effectively with chefs, managers, and fellow kitchen team members to ensure efficient service.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing deliveries and inventory.
- Support kitchen operations during peak meal periods while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and kitchen standards.
Qualifications
- Previous culinary or line cook experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
