Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

What Will You Do?

• Independently manage an active caseload of injury and/or property damage claims and litigation from first notice of loss through resolution within level of authority. Typically, handles personal and/or business insurance high complexity liability claims which may include coverage disputes and contractual indemnity issues.
• Gather and thoroughly investigate information by contacting all relevant parties to determine coverage, evaluate liability exposure, assess bodily injury and/or property damage, and establish appropriate reserves in accordance with policy terms and management guidance.
• Provide timely and professional communication to customers, representatives, opposing counsel, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Leverage resolution strategies and coordinate internal and external resources to conduct comprehensive claim investigations and evaluations.
• Actively negotiate with multiple constituents (e.g., claimants, attorneys, contractors, representatives) and convey claim settlements within authority and issue payments timely and accurately.
• Assist in coordinating with Counsel to support litigation management strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of claim activity in claim management systems.
• Identify areas in which we can improve or enhance current best practices and offer creative solutions.
• Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts, particularly in the areas of AI while maintaining productivity and service quality.
• Acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) to comply with state and Travelers’ requirements within three months of starting the job.
• May require travel, including overnight stays, to attend mediations, trials, arbitration, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Three years of liability, bodily injury or comparable claim experience.
• Two years of litigation claim experience.
• Active adjuster license, where required by state law.
• Experience with claims management systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend, synthesize, and clearly articulate complex information to multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, exercise sound judgement, and make effective decisions independently.
• Exceptional customer service skills and commitment to providing a positive experience for customers; ability to manage difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize effectively.
• Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills; ability to handle complex or disputed claims, negotiate settlements, and manage litigation.
• Ability to manage stress, navigate difficult situations, and maintain composure and professionalism under pressure while always taking accountability for decisions.
• Thorough understanding of insurance principles and terminology, state insurance regulations, fair claims practices, and legal requirements applicable to claim handling.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply, and clearly articulate complex policy language, endorsements, exclusions to assess coverage and claim eligibility.
• Ability to quickly learn from experience and apply it to new situations with speed and flexibility.

What is a Must Have?

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of bodily injury liability, property damage liability, or comparable claim related experience.
