Student Worker - Events

Job Summary:

• The primary role of the student summer team is to provide support to the Events/facilities/custodial teams with maintenance needs of the campus to include:
  • The movement of furniture in/out of campus dorms, classrooms, and other campus assets
  • Miscellaneous maintenance needs
  • The set up and breakdown of campus events
  • Support of campus events- AV, parking, and other

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for setting up and dismantling event equipment such as stages, tents, chairs, tables, and decorations according to the event manager’s specifications
2. Work closely with event manager to ensure all elements of the event are in place and functioning properly
3. Transport equipment and materials to and from the event site, including loading and unloading trucks
4. Other duties as assigned

Education Employment eligibility:

• Currently enrolled Delaware Valley University student
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide required documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong organizational skills to ensure all aspects of the event setup are completed accurately and on time
2. Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and event managers
3. Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during setup efficiently

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Occasionally lifting 25 lbs or less
3. Frequently lifting 25 lbs or more
4. Typically standing or walking
5. Typically bending, crouching, stooping
6. Climbing ladders, scaffolds
7. Typically running, climbing
8. Using tools requiring high dexterity
9. Outdoor exposure to weather
10. Exposure to chemicals
11. Exposure to moving machinery
12. Exposure to unpleasant odors
13. Exposure to animal feces and specimens
14. May be exposed to animal bites, scratches and contagious diseases
15. High noise environment
16. High dust, dirt, grease environment
17. Must hold valid driver’s license
18. May have an alternative work schedule
19. May be required to be on-call
