Employment Consultant – ACCES-VR Job Development Services 

Location: 441 W Kirkpatrick St, Syracuse NY 13204 and within the community in Onondaga County

Typical Schedule: Flexible schedule that allows you to plan your work around your availability and the needs of the individuals you support

Compensation: $20 per hour, plus benefits if working 17.5+ hrs/week. +$1 if working after 6:00 PM or on weekends.

As an Employment Consultant, you’ll help individuals explore career opportunities, find meaningful work, and succeed in competitive employment. Whether you're looking for full-time or part-time work, this is an opportunity to make a difference while helping people lead more independent, fulfilling lives.

Employment Consultants help individuals explore job opportunities, develop resumes, connect with local businesses, navigate the hiring process, and build workplace skills. They also provide ongoing support through monthly check-ins to help individuals navigate challenges and maintain successful employment.

What You'll Do

• Assess individuals' skills, interests, and support needs to identify appropriate employment opportunities.
• Assist with job development, including researching opportunities, connecting with employers, and supporting the hiring process.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, human resources professionals, and employment networks.
• Research and identify internship and competitive employment opportunities.
• Provide individualized job coaching to help individuals learn job tasks, develop workplace skills, and build independence.
• Conduct monthly check-ins with employed individuals to support continued employment success.
• Monitor progress, complete required documentation, and follow agency and ACCES-VR requirements.

• Basic computer, internet, and email skills.
• Customer service, sales, or training experience preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with different learning styles and abilities preferred.
• Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience with employment services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, willingness to travel in all weather conditions including rain and snow

Training & Expectations

• Participate in paid training and apply the skills learned.
• Provide individualized, person-centered employment support.
• Take initiative in developing employment opportunities and community relationships.
• Complete accurate, timely service documentation, including monthly check-ins.
• Maintain professional communication and follow through with individuals, employers, and team members.
• Work independently and collaboratively while following agency and ACCES-VR requirements.
