Summary: The Creative Project Manager oversees the planning and delivery of creative projects across multiple consumer brands and marketing channels, from initial request through final handoff. Working closely with the VP of Marketing & Communications, Creative leadership, and cross-functional partners, this person ensures requests are complete, timelines are realistic, and projects keep moving.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who brings sound judgment, a confident voice, and a strong command of project details. This person advocates for the Creative team, makes clear recommendations, and is comfortable navigating conversations with stakeholders to set realistic expectations around timing and scope. This role also manages and develops one direct report.
Responsibilities
Project Intake & Brief Readiness
- Review incoming requests for clear objectives, defined deliverables, necessary information and assets, and appropriate stakeholders. Return incomplete or unclear requests for clarification and ensure requestors resolve gaps before creative work begins.
- Partner with Creative leadership to strengthen briefing practices and help requestors communicate the business need, audience, and desired outcome while leaving room for creative problem-solving.
Project Planning & Workload Management
- Develop and maintain realistic project timelines in collaboration with Creative leadership and stakeholders, allowing appropriate time for creative development, review, and final handoff. Manage routine requests independently within established workflows.
- Maintain visibility into team capacity and upcoming workloads, partnering with Creative leadership to coordinate assignments and balance competing priorities.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of active projects, including status, recent decisions, open issues, and next steps, and provide informed updates.
- Identify risks early and communicate the impact of changes to scope, timing, or capacity. Negotiate timelines, recommend reprioritization, and escalate unresolved conflicts with clear context and recommended options.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary project contact between Creative and cross-functional stakeholders, communicating updates, setting clear expectations, and holding requestors and reviewers accountable to agreed responsibilities and deadlines.
- Lead a weekly status meeting covering all active projects, along with other project discussions as needed. Ensure key decisions, status changes, and next steps are accurately reflected in Monday.com, following up with responsible team members when updates are missing.
- Track review and approval status in the proofing platform and assist with reviewer follow-up as needed.
- Coordinate print orders and vendor communication, including preparing related purchase orders, as needed for applicable projects.
Workflow & Process Improvement
- Maintain consistent practices in Monday.com for intake, project tracking, documentation, and handoffs, establishing clear expectations for how team members and stakeholders keep project information current.
- Identify recurring bottlenecks and work with Creative leadership and stakeholders to implement practical improvements that reduce delays, rework, and unnecessary follow-up.
People Management & Development
- Manage and develop a direct report through clear expectations, coaching, regular feedback, and performance management.
- Delegate responsibilities and oversee workload and follow-through, ensuring consistent standards for project management and stakeholder support.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of project management experience in marketing or advertising, specifically managing creative work for consumer products.
- Strong understanding of creative workflows, from briefing and development through review, approval, and delivery across multiple channels and formats.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects while retaining key details and recent updates, supported by consistent note-taking, documentation, and follow-through.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to advocate for creative teams, communicate recommendations with conviction, and navigate conversations constructively.
- The judgment to ask useful questions, address concerns directly, and know when to resolve an issue independently, collaborate, or escalate it.
- Experience managing or supervising others, including delegating work, providing feedback, and supporting professional development.
- Experience using project management platforms to organize work and maintain project visibility.
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing creative or advertising projects in an agency or similarly fast-paced, multi-brand environment.
- Experience with shopper marketing and retail-focused creative campaigns, including in-store and e-commerce executions.
- Hands-on experience with project management software like Monday.com and familiarity with online proofing tools.
- Experience coordinating with external vendors or production partners.
