Flexible hybrid work environment (onsite 2 days a week/3 days remote) at our Arlington (AOC1), TX office.

About the role:

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting workload automation solutions that optimize batch processing and improve operational efficiency across the organization. The position partners with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements, mentor junior engineers, and provide ongoing support for critical batch operations.

In this role you will:

• Collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze automation needs and provide deliverables as assigned
• Utilizes Tidal or similar job scheduling software to develop and implement batch jobs, workflows, and all other software components
• Escalates complex or consequential issues to management
• Identifies and directs changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms
• Understands and promotes the GM Financial policy on Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) to ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the GM Financial business and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion
• Serves as a mentor to less experienced engineers
• Support other workload automation users and teams in their use of the software
• Supports batch optimization and reporting
• Supports IT SOX Audit controls for batch jobs and access management
• Works cross-functionally to analyze and resolve batch problems
• Provides direct support of batch processing including incident management and incident resolution through participation in on call rotation
• Performs other duties as assigned

What makes You an ideal candidate?

Skills & Knowledge

• Proven abilities in engineering batch jobs and workflows preferred
• Proficiency at coding scripts in Unix, Linux and Windows system interface languages to facilitate workflow development preferred
• Operating System fluency with Linux, UNIX, AIX, and Windows preferred
• Familiarity with ITIL Service Management framework principles preferred
• Exposure to working with geographically dispersed teams preferred
• Must have high attention to detail, be well organized and a self-starter
• Must be able to work with limited to moderate direct supervision
• Readily and actively shares knowledge
• Embraces diversity of ideas from team members and leaders
• Easily adapts to new technologies and environment changes
• Ability to identify, develop, document and implement industry best practices centered on Tidal or similar job scheduling technologies
• Excellent analytical ability and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate professionally in a corporate environment at all levels and to all audiences
• Ability to train others in use of software/tools as needed
• Readily adapts industry trends and new technologies to day-to-day work activities
• Ability to relate knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems to key business functions and processes
• Experience with sequel scripting highly preferred

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:  

• Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
• Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
• Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
• Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
• Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection 

Work Experience & Education

• 2-4 years of workflow development and engineering experience with Tidal or similar job scheduling software tools required
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
