Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery is a showcase for local farmers and food artisans. This is a fun and fast-paced environment focused on serving delicious food with fresh seasonal and local ingredients. The Produce Manager is responsible for leading the department in efforts to highlight the most seasonal and special product. The major accountability of the Produce Manager is to manage the product in a way that reduces waste and promotes sales while leading their team to do the same.

Requirements

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Manages team of Produce Associates to merchandise and maintain a wide variety of produce
• Holds all team members accountable to their essential job functions, speed/efficiency, product knowledge and customer service 
• Responsible for managing department retention through sound hiring, training, performance coaching and delivery of performance reviews 
• Contributes to overall profitability by properly managing product level, product storage and rotation, merchandising decisions based on profitability, managing labor and providing ongoing training
• Responsible for the effective training of all new hires; conducts various trainings  to ensure consistency, accuracy and understanding of all job functions
• Maintains accurate training documents and creates new resources as needed

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS?

AGE/AVAILABILITY

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• 3+ years managing within the Grocery and/or agriculture industries 
• 3+ years experience managing a budget and staff required

• Must possess a passion for local food and an interest in telling the story behind it.
• Must conduct oneself in an honest, professional and respectful manner at all times.
• Must possess a love of people, interact with people well, and possess a desire for excellent customer service.
• Able to take direction, work independently, and as a member of a team, and able to create working relationships.
• Must be highly motivated, hard working, and possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude. 
• Must pay attention to details, be organized, and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
