Measurement & Strategy Lead

(Data & Measurement | Hybrid | Chicagoland candidates only | Reports to VP of Client Solutions | ~$120,000-$135,000 base)

Position Summary

As the Measurement & Strategy Lead, you will be the client-facing voice of Marcel’s measurement practice. You’ll help clients understand what is working, what to invest in next, and how to prove marketing’s impact on the client’s revenue.

This role focuses on the strategic side of data: selling and scoping measurement engagements, building measurement plans, forecasting budgets and performance, and running advanced analysis such as media mix modeling and multi-touch attribution.

You will work closely with Account Management, Project Management, Sales, Paid Media, SEO, and the Senior Martech / Technical Implementation Lead to ensure that:

• Every client has a measurement plan tied to business outcomes
• Budget and channel decisions are backed by data and forecasts, not guesses
• Measurement engagements are scoped, priced, and sold profitably

This role is ideal for a consultant at heart: someone who asks sharp questions, turns complex data into a clear story, and is comfortable presenting it to client leadership and thinking in terms of a client’s business objectives.

What We Mean by Measurement & Strategy

• Measurement Planning – Defining KPIs, conversion frameworks, and maturity roadmaps for each client
• Forecasting – Modeling budget and performance scenarios across paid media and organic channels
• Advanced Measurement/Attribution – MMM, MTA, and reach and frequency analysis
• Analytics Consulting – Selling, scoping, and leading measurement engagements end to end

This role complements the Senior Martech / Technical Implementation Lead, who builds the tracking and data foundation, and the Analytics Reporting Specialist, who handles day-to-day implementation and reporting.

Functions and Responsibilities

Selling & Scoping Analytics Work

• Join sales and client calls to uncover a prospect’s challenges, tech stack, and business model
• Scope and price audits, implementations, retainers, and data projects using Marcel’s estimating standards
• Write proposals and statements of work for measurement engagements, with technical input from the Implementation Lead
• Identify expansion opportunities (sGTM, conversion clarity, CRM attribution, data warehouse) in existing accounts

Measurement Planning & Strategy

• Lead the creation of measurement plans, maturity assessments, and roadmaps
• Define KPIs and conversion frameworks with clients, AMs, and channel leads
• Prioritize the analytics roadmap for each account with the PM team

Forecasting & Advanced Measurement

• Forecast client media budgets and performance across multiple scenarios
• Run media mix modeling (e.g., Meridian), multi-touch attribution, and reach and frequency analysis
• Measure the impact of cross-channel efforts such as AI search and AEO on traffic and client revenue/pipeline
• Develop repeatable measurement offerings that Marcel can sell across clients

Client Insights & Communication

• Translate complex data into plain-language insights for account managers and channel teams
• Present findings and recommendations directly to clients during strategic reviews
• Serve as the point of escalation for client questions about data, attribution, and performance

Skills, Traits, & Abilities

Required

• 6+ years of experience in marketing analytics, measurement, or analytics consulting
• Expert-level experience building budget and performance forecasts for paid media
• Significant client-facing interactions and presentation experience
• Hands-on experience with MMM and/or MTA analysis
• Experience scoping and selling analytics work, or leading client-facing analytics engagements
• Strong Excel/Sheets skills and experience with data pipelines like Supermetrics or Fivetran
• Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills with senior client stakeholders
• Experience across multiple client verticals, ideally B2B
• Expert-level knowledge of GA4 and major ad platforms (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, LinkedIn)

Strongly Preferred

• SQL and BigQuery for analysis
• Agency experience managing multiple client relationships
• Familiarity with CRM attribution (Salesforce, HubSpot) and B2B pipeline measurement
• Experience building a new service offering or practice area

Bonus Skills & Experience

• Python or R for predictive modeling
• Meridian, Robyn, or similar open-source MMM tools
• Experience with AEO/AI search measurement tools such as Peec or Profound
• CRO or experimentation strategy
